I watched saw 3, and there's a really disgusting bit where she has to relieve the pressure round the man's brain.

It was totally gross and I carried on watching it even though it's making me shudder weeks later.

Because you get excited...adrenaline is running through your body, and you like the feeling because you have the opportunity to easily leave the theatre/tv if it gets to be too much. Curiosity can also play a part I suppose. But I would mostly lean on the adrenaline rush as an explanation.

That question is what absolutely puzzles me. I cannot understand why ANYONE would want to see horrifying images. I do believe that they can affect the mind subconsciously as well as consciously.

When I was young I saw a horror film and had recurrent nightmares for most of my life, although I didn't know what caused it. It took about thirty years for the base of the nightmare to surface.

Now I will not watch anything that is violent, frightening, degrading, or any other ultra negative visual. Why on earth would I pollute my brain and thought patterns and emotions. I have to be protective of my sense of balance and beauty, and appreciate that I am sensitive and celebrate that sensitivity.

I even have watched assorted horror movies. Cannibal Holocaust, I spit on your grave, the zombie movies, the halloween movies, the nightmare movies, etc. My dad and mom didnt positioned any regulations even with the undeniable fact that. Ive continually believed that movies are only organic entertainment, and horror movies aint no diverse. identification end my childrens from watching genuine horror till at last they're 18. My toddler is barely 3 months old.

3 reasons...

1st one is lots of folks like horror movies with some digusting images for the thrill of it.

2nd of all, young teenagers are SO CURIOUS, and they watch the movie, until the suspense has revealed the answer at the end of the movie. I used to watch horror movies when younger, but today's movies are far grossier then in my early teen days..

3rd of all, it's only movies made for certain generation and type of people that like to watch is 'horror'...

I stopped watching horror movies once the gross parts gotten so bad. Today I am only watching adventure/ comedy/ romantic, true story and some action (as long as there is no blood spirting around) movies!

By watching horror films one is making oneself desensitised to pain and unsightly images. The more you watch the more you crave for it. Just like you get addicted to drugs or alcohol. You are hooked and even though you know it is bad for your general well being, you kept on watching. The effect will hunt you later. either driving you to insanity or other psychological problems or even worse you might be influenced to act out these horrific images that are stored in your sub conscience. Remember that the mind is absorbing all the things we see and experience, especially so when one is a child whose mind is at its formative years. This is one of the reasons why children are protected from bad images. Once stored, can be recalled over and over. What ever is stored in the sub conscience is what will be available in the conscience. Look at some of the crimes committed. Some of the criminals copy their acts from horrific films they have watched sometime in their lives.

There was a case where one friend hacked his best friend to death. He told the police something came out of a horror film they were watching and told him to kill his friend so he did.

Another case is that of twins. One loves watching any kind of horror films you name it - she has no boundaries. The other hates them. Now the one who loves horror films is more mean, wicked and hurts not just others but her own twin. She loves creating problems and then stand back and watch people fight and get hurt. It seems like she gets some kind of thrill in it. She even tells her twin how she should behave towards others which is hurting them and alerts her whenever there is any horror film. even though her sister has told her she feels spiritually drained when she watches such films. She also enjoys others being isolated and laughed at.

The other twin is peace loving, has a much happier life, gets on with many people. Goes out of her way to please others, is not mean and gives a lot to charity.

I also believe that watching horror films is Satan's way of making people be under his influence. Stop distroying yourself and for your own peace of mind give it up. Instead watch extremely funny films, the ones that will make you cry laughing.

I don't know! Why do we do this? I like to keep a pretty positive outlook on life, yet I still have my fetishes for horror movies. The most disturbing ones I've seen were "May", and "Hostel". I guess it has the same effect as a rollercoaster ride. The adrenaline rush from fear is addicting.

I can't watch horrors for that very reason, they play on my mind, I know its just a film but after watching the Exorcism of Emily Rose, I said I will never watch them again. I had to have my boyfriend at the time stay with me for 2 nights afterwards!!

I do it cos I want to see how much I can take before I just can't take any more. I used to be scared of The Exorcist, but not any more, with all the new technology used to make films, it's kind of fun to identify the computer imagery in films now.

I have seen that film and yes your right I did have to watch to the end I guess it's because I am curious and just want to see what happens. Sometimes I am really scared but I just try to remember that it's just a movie.
