I live alone but still use a dishwasher. I recently replaced my old one with a new Whirlpool stainless steel model. I run it only once a week and scape and rinse rinse dishes before putting them in the dishwasher. Or it has a rinse only cycle that you can run once a day until ready to run the full wash cycle. The advantage of using a dishwasher is that dishes are sanitized at high temperature and water spots are removed. I hand wash fragile items like crystal. Yes it adds to your home's value and stainless steel is more in demand.

Yes if you're going to sell it to someone else. No, not for two people. Think about it, by the time you gradually fill the dishwasher with enough dirty dishes to run it (maybe three or four days), it will stink to high heaven of rotting food. We have a dishwasher, but we had a family, they grew up, got married, now there is just the two of us. I am the dish washer now. Chow

Oh definitely! I grew up having a dishwasher, I moved into my apartment and had one, then in this rental house we have to have a portable one. It doubles as a butcher block. I'd so love to have a built-in again.
And as a former realtor, I can tell you that's one amenity that people look for when buying a house and keeps you above market value. Plus, it's so easy to just put everything in, turn it on, and forget about it. No more breakage than you'd get with washing by hand. (And no dishpan hands!) :)

Like you there is only 2 of us left. We use ours about every other day. We rinse off most of the bad stuff and then just let the dishes sit until we have a near full load.
I like it because it uses hotter water than you can with your hands and it would kill more germs and bacteria off of the plates and utensils.
Go for it. They aren't that much money, and you will have guests and family visit on occasions, so it will come in handy then. Good luck

My family uses one. It is very helpful. There are three people in my family, and it is great. Washing dishes by hand, may seem more efficient, but it is much more time comsuming. With a dish washer, the dishes also dont stack up in the sink. Depending on what kind of cleaning supplies you use, it is also cheaper. This is ust my idea though. It all depends on what your comfortable using.

Yes....put it in. Most updated kitchens are expected to have them and it's easier to make the space for it when you are building. There is just the two of us at home now but I wouldn't give up my dishwasher for anything. I am also into cooking so it doesn't take long for dishes to accumulate.

I think you should get one. It is so much easier to put the dishes in and turn the dishwasher on other than having to wash them by hand. I did not have one and decided to get one and it is great! I would definitely recommend you getting one!

I have a dishwasher and there is only three of us in our household. I tend to use it more in the winter just to help kill the germs. In the summer I will probably do the dishes by hand since there is only three of us.

Dishwashers are great for lazy people such as myself. I have other things to do, and I will do them over doing dishes. Throw them in, take them out when they're done. You use more water then you would in the sink though.
I couldn't live without one.

Yes, I would put a dishwasher in. Not only are they a great help daily, but will make your home worth more, as most people do use them.
