i m new to american system of education. i do not know much about the grading system in colleges.so please explain in detail

You usually don't have to give a reason. If you do -- they don't want a detailed reason.

Typical reasons are:

1. You thought the course would be different
2. You don't like the professor.
3. You found another course to take that you prefer.
4. Family or money problems make you have to withdraw.


Just tell them the truth. What is the real reason that you want to drop it?

You don't have to give an answer to withdraw from a class. You just go to the registrars office and fill out the proper forms. Make sure you do it in time, otherwise you will be stuck in a class that you want out of with a potential failing grade.

You really don't need to give a reason, if you care about it, tell them you have signed up for more courses then you should have and you need to streamline your program. Grading in College: A-4.0 B-3.0
C-2.0 D. you don't want a D in anything. F=Failure
