Neither of these 2 tablets produces weight gain, though bisoprolol may make you tired and amlodipine can produce ' malaise'. You will not get control of your blood pressure with any herbal or natural products. Go back and see your GP. There are plenty of other medications he can try.
If you stop these drugs and your BP inevitably rises, you will risk heart attack or stroke.

3 years ago, I was diagnosed - hypertension with a reading of 160/100. I used to feel dizzy a lot, my legs had awful cramps, and levels were very low in my potassium, causing my fingers and toes to always cramp together. One day I started to feel really faint while I was driving with my daughter in the back seat and I passed out, hitting 3 cars and ending up in a ditch. That moment,I knew I had to do something because my meds weren't working. I heard about this diet from a friend and thought I'd give it a shot. The results have been remarkable. In just 21 days, I honestly can't remember feeling this good, my blood pressure went from 175/110 to 125/70.

I'd ask my doctor to change the medication, if you've looked it up and one of the side-effects are being hungry and gaining weight.
Check out Valerian herb for this. It comes in a cap. and the worst part is it doesn't smell very good but it's used for a variety of uses. This may or may not directly lower your blood pressure but it has no known side-effects and worth a try. If you do this and after a couple of months your blood pressure returns to normal, your doctor may decide to take you off your Rx medicine.

There is a great treatment plan at a Web Site I frequent and have purchased from. They have TONS of herbs, herbal treatments and remedies. Their staff is very helpful in narrowing down which products you should use, and which ones to stay away from. They also do Iridology via emailing a digital photo of your eyes. They do have a treatment for high blood pressure, and circulation. It's called "suggested Heart Treatment". I would suggest checking it out. Like I said, they have been amazing!!

Please, please consider consulting a Homoeopath. I treat a LOT of patients with hypertension - some have presented with extremely high readings. All are fed up with conventional medicines & the side effects & after some treatment with homeoopathy, their blood pressure is within normal limits & well controlled. Visit www.homeopathy-soh.org to find a registered practitioner local to you. I assure you that you will get good results but you need to bear in mind that the treatment is about finding the correct homoeopathic remedy for you with your blood pressure problems & not about finding a remedy for your blood pressure. Your hypertension is a RESULT of an underlying imbalance & it's this that needs treatment. Conventional medicine fails to understand this point entirely. I have many, many satisfied ex-hypertensive patients who are very pleased not to have to take drugs any more.

First, let your doctor know your decision. If he is against it, find one that also practices alternative therapy. Don`t come of your medication straight away, but cut down gradually as you change lifestyle habits and take in needed nutrients. You can go to my website and see some ways to help you make the change. Also, take Revenol an anti-oxidant to help combat the conditions causing your high blood pressure and also Maximol solutions which is a mineral and trace mineral bio-available solution which will give you a balanced mineral and vitamin daily intake. Excellent stuff!

I was on blood pressure tablets for 2 years but the side effects where that bad in the end ,i came off them myself.
I have used Garlic to lower blood pressure and eating celery helped to bring it down, although i can stand the taste, and i also cut down on salt.
try to exercise by walking as much as you can.but consult with your doctor first before taking any exercise.
I also used autogentic training and i try not to get to stressed out with things, easier said than done.
my bp is now 120 over 85 and it used to be 160 over 110.
Good luck.

If you live in a country with relative individual freedom and liberty, then you may find cannabis quite useful for lowering your blood pressure. It is a quite benign herb that research has found to be useful for many medical conditions, including high blood pressure and stress.

Listen to the other poster Dr. Frank. He is 100% on spot. Borderline hypertension maybe controlled by diet, weight loss, exercise that is fine. But you state your BP is very high, and there is no other way to control it. Try other meds the alternative to a medical regimen is to suffer a stroke or heart attack. If you do listen to the homeopaths you should quickly realize that this will not do anything. Stay on the drugs or your name may make it into the newspapers.
