19 when I left for college ( I waited a year in 1/2 before I started my college career) and then I moved back home when I graduated at 23. I moved out for good at 24 1/2 when I had enough for a 20% down payment on a house

The second I turned 18, I hauled my butt out of there. I would have left sooner, but I knew if I did, my mom would have had the cops come get me since I would have been underage.
I had to get out of there. My mother was a very angry alcoholic and my father had stopped talking to me for 2 years, even though we lived under the same roof. I wasn't a bad kid, I was just the oldest so I was always the one who got punished.
When I was 10 years old, my dad had set up a bank account for all us kids. All my allowances, and as I got older, paychecks, went directly into the savings account. I believe I was the only 10 year old that was saving up for a house. You know a child must have a horrible home life if they are saving up to buy a house instead of buying toys and candy with their money!!!!
There's more to the story, but thats for another question and another time.
