When should I fly to ASU to be early enough to find accomodation/part time jobs?? July? August??

Here is a link to their academic calaendar -- which you could have found easily on their web site. It looks like classes start on August 20. As a new student, they may have an orientation for you the previous week.
If you are renting, you will probably need to start at the beginning of August. I've moved a lot. Many landlords don't know what is available until a month before it is open -- so a trip to find a place in early July would be a good idea.
You may want to look at www.apartments.com to get an idea of what is available.
