How about an extra $20K in salary at age 25 compared to someone with out a degree? How about the ability to get a job that you enjoy? How about the satisfaction gained fro learning? How about the increased liklihood that you will marry a college graduate -- meaning a better life for your kids (because of the increased income -- but for other reasons as well).
Plus -- if you go away to school, you learn to be self reliant.

Depending on what you study, it can be the difference between getting a job and not. Or getting a $100,000 job vs. a $20,000 job.
Depending on where you go, it can be a place where you're around all sorts of different people with all sorts of different ideas.
Our culture pretty much expects it. Don't go and people may look down at you.
However... if you don't plan on having a career that requires a degree, it just might be worth going.
I went to college. My yearly salary is more than what 4 years of (my expensive private) college cost. I don't think that would have been possible had I not gone. For me, the math worked well.

For many people, it will offer you more opportunity in life, a chance a better job, opportunity to increase your knowledge base, expand your horizons, meet new people, explore your options, etc. There's really no reason not to go...I wish I would have right out of high school instead of waiting nearly 8 years.
