It is common to drop around that time. I dropped around 34 or 35 weeks. I am now 37 weeks and only 50% effaced and 0% dilated so it does not mean labor is right around the corner. Of course keep in mind that every woman is different. But typically your body starts to prepare itself in your 8th month.

With my daughter I dropped at 37 weeks but then the baby went back up. It was the strangest thing. But most of my friends who have dropped have delivered in the next few weeks to a month. So it may be that your baby is just getting ready. I ened up having a c-section because my baby didn't drop, in fact I was in full labor and her head was WAY up! I know a lot of people who had that pressure in the last month of their pregnancy so it's normal.

I too am 34 weeks and my baby has dropped. Even if you have the baby in a few weeks it is term. Don't worry. My first dropped at 35 weeks and at 42 weeks we decided it was time to induce. Your baby is just getting ready to be born. Try not to worry. Good luck

Also wanted to add... sorry your doctor isn't helpful. I had one like that and it sure makes you feel stupid. You have a right to worry and ask questions. Just try not to worry TOO much. :)

It sounds like the baby is dropping, but don't worry. Babies can drop early but stay put until you are overdue. If your doctor doesn't seem concerned then I wouldn't worry about it. However, you do have the right to see another doctor for a second opinion in order to ease your mind. This being your first pregnancy, then I would recommend that you go see another doctor just to put your mind at ease. But in all honesty, I don't think you have anything to worry about right now. Just be glad you are near then end of the pregnancy and soon you'll be holding that precious bundle of joy in your arms.

Sorry your doctor is not helpful. That is really sad.

Yes, it's normal for the baby to get into a lower position at this time. I think my baby dropped down into my pelvis right around 34 weeks. It felt really weird. You definitely know it!

Read up on babycenter.com and other pregnancy websites, to reassure yourself about this and all kinds of other stuff that's going to happen in the next few weeks!

Good luck!

If you have dropped already that's okay. Babies can drop pretty early and still not come out by your due date! The pressure you feel is very normal if your baby has dropped.

With my second child he dropped around 37 weeks and I could feel his head constantly in my pelvis. I was dilated for WEEKS at 4 cm!! It didn't matter, he was still late and I had to have my water broken for him to finally be born.

If your doctor is not concerned then you're probably perfectly fine. Try and relax! And best of luck to you!
