Will today's music ever produce a band even close to the magnitude of the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin?

And for the love of God do not put the super overrated band U2 down for the answer.

No! Today's music is all rubbish! sorry! it is overrated and there is really no talent out htere! The classics, Zeppelin, Floyd, the doors, beatles, etc. will never be duplicated or have anyone who comes close to the magnitude of their talents! Back in the old days, musicians actually played cause they liked music and they were not so money hungry! Today they just throw songs together as quick as possible, to produce some lame CD and all the people care about is money! Most people wont even remember most of these singers today! They are all just average and really dont even know the meaning of music! I just feel like there is no depth to music now and noone really cares how you play or what you play, it is all a joke! Look at how things were in the sixties and seventies and how much times have changed since then! It all relates to the music and makes a statement about everything that is going on in society today! I just hope that people who have never been exposed to classic rock will listen to some of it and get an idea of what real music is and what theyve been missing! Also, I totally agree with you about U2! I know they have a big following and Bono is a really nice guy who has done a lot for less fortunate people, but their music is not classic rock and just cant compare with all those good old rockers ! Rock on and have a great day!

The bands you mentioned were in the vanguard of a cultural revolution which has now been pretty much assimilated and made "safe" as far as mainstream music goes.
We have been increasingly spoon-fed music by large record labels and given that music sales in general have been declining in recent years, major record labels tend to take less risks and to drop bands more quickly than they did in the 60s and 70s, which means that more challenging, innovative bands and artists are less likely to be signed up by them, or to be allowed to develop in the same way that the "classic" bands you mention were.
What constitutes "good" music is obviously subjective, but innovativeness and risk taking are pretty good indicators of a band's integrity.
Hopefully, web 2.0 can contribute towards more life being injected into mainstream music, as it should help bands to bypass traditional major labels and their marketing drives.
It's also easier now than ever before to learn more via the web about bands and artists that have been innovative since the 70s.
I'd recommend looking up more of today's "underground" artists if you're looking for any of the innovative spirit of the 60s and 70s (and for any meaningful social commentary, which is disgracefully absent from 99% of today's mainstream artists), although of course today's music scene is massively more fragmented than was the case back then.

classic Rock by ability of a ways. i do unlike immediately's music in any respect, to aid you recognize the actuality. we actually does no longer have immediately's music if it weren't for the classics. I propose you are able to pass as much as multiple Rock bands immediately and ask , " Who have been your impacts? " and human beings like the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones, etc. would for beneficial be one in all them. yet on a greater very own observe, I grew up listening to classic Rock. I wasn't born in the 60's - 70's yet, my mom and dad would continuously be listening to the Classics. And, it merely grew to become what I loved. i'm no longer attempting to bash immediately's music, i'm merely stating my opinion. classic Rock is merely what I grew up listening to and what I want :) edit: I believe madnob. After growing to be up listening to classic Rock, this is demanding to call what we've immediately music. incredibly rap music. edit: I additionally believe the guy above me. It wasn't all approximately popularity and funds back then. It did no longer count what you regarded like. Songs had meanings. They weren't only the comparable words repeated, with a catchy beat.

Today's vague excuse for music sucks toad scrota. Music hasn't been halfway decent since 1996-ish.

On the other hand, I sincerely with people would stop blindly name-dropping The Big Three antiquated and overrated Brit bands when making musical comparrisons. The Beatles and Stones were just never that great. Zeppelin was sort of ok. There were SO MANY other much better bands and artists out there back in the day (Aerosmith). Why does it always have to be The Big Three?

I will never ever mention U-friggin'-2 when discussing good music or bands. Ever. They make me hive up.
