With my last pregnancy I only gained 18 pounds. I was a little teeny bit overweight to begin with so I tried to watch what I ate. I lost weight in the beginning due to morning sickness. But after that I gained slowly. I was really lucky as my baby was 10 pounds 10 ounces and I came home from the hospital weighing about what I weighed at the beginning of the pregnancy! (my first 2 pregnancies I gained GOBS of weight!)
Most midwives will tell you it's not what you gain as much as it is what you EAT. If you are eating healthy and gaining steadily you will be fine. Try to avoid junk too often and stay as active as your body will allow you.
Best of luck! And remember no matter what you gain it's always possible to lose it later!

I've gained 48 lbs. I was a little underweight to begin with though, so I'll be happy to lose just 35 lbs or so after I deliver. I've been trying to eat healthy, although sometimes its just hard not to have that bowl of ice cream! Despite the cravings, I still eat healthier than I did before I was pregnant, and the weight still keeps piling on.
I think weight gain just depends on the person. Yes, it is ideal not to gain too much, but some people do, no matter what they eat. As long as your doctor isn't worried, don't let anyone else tell you you've gained too much or too little.

I guess that I am weird because i gained 56 lbs, but I did pig out but I was always hungry. I wish that I had only gained the 30lbs because I would have lost it right away. 7 months after my son was born I am still trying to loose the last 12 lbs.

It is very normal for most pregnant women to gain anything between 25 and 35 pounds extra weight. This happens gradually throughout the pregnancy and it is not an issue that should make youto worry so much. However, as much as it is normal, it is necessary for you to manage your weight to prevent some of the obese related diseases which can be harmful to you and your unborn kid as well. Nonetheless, it is neither advisable to engage in diet plans, nor weight loss programs during pregnancy; therefore the best solution is to manage weight gain during pregnancy.

20 - 30 lbs is actually a lot even for the average weight woman. I gained 22 with my first son, but he was born at 32 weeks. My 2nd son I gained 32 lbs at 39 weeks. I started 10 lbs overweight so I was VERY uncomfortable by the end.

I had periods where I'd be really hungry, and then times when I didn't want to eat anything. It would go in cycles. I started out around 125 lbs and I think I was maybe 150 at my highest. It was awful. The pain on my joints, especially my knees was awful. This time, I started out at 110 and hope to only gain 20 lbs. I can't take the pain and having to waddle and limp around!

I'm 18 weeks and have only gained 1 lb. (pre pregnancy weight of 128) ... Now the doctors have said that I HAVE to gain atleast 2lbs by my next visit...
I eat regularly... Not too much junk lol - I'm just BUSY! (I work full time and go to school for 6 hours every evening) ... so I don't have time to sit around and eat all day :)

I was 55 kg before I got pregnant and now I´m 29 weeks and weigh 61 kg. I´m just eating healthy and not really watching my weight but I suppose everyone is different.
