Murder in the First is pretty good and somewhat along the same lines as those listed.

You may also want to check out Cool Hand Luke and Brubaker.

It's not a movie, but the tv show OZ is really good and features life in a modern day prison.

...Geez!!! You'd think that with the recent release of "Grindhouse", someone would have remembered and mentioned what is definitively the holy grail of 42st Street Sleazy GrindHouse Cinema, and the best of the infamous 'Women in Prison' genre.

That film is "Chained Heat" (however, kudos to the knowledgeable answerer who coined what is probably the second best of this genre, namely "Caged Heat"...golf clap, everyone!!!)

"Chained Heat" starred a post-Exorcist Linda Blair, genre star Sybil Danning, and blaxploitation star Tamara Dobsen; in addition; sleazoid character actors John Vernon (the college dean from "Animal House"), and villainous regular Henry Silva.

Originally issued under the Vestron Video label, on VHS, this film has been unavailable for years; reportedly, the DVD distribution label, Media Blasters, is picking this grimy, sleazy cult classic for release, around late Spring or early Summer.

If you haven't partaken of this film before (including any and all uninitiated, and reading this), this pending release is highly recommended!!!

You are in for a treat.......Watch For It!!!
