I think they stand a good a chance as any other team. Last year they were criticized heavily for not being able to score, yet this year the Devils lack scoring yet many say they will win (Calgary also had a better defense last year).
Calgary matches pretty well with every team in the league. Calgary, Vancouver, Minnesota, Colorado and Edmonton get shafted because they don't have an easy division.
If Calgary had been in Detroit's division they would have had at least 10 more points, possibly 20 or 30 more points and possibly a President's trophy.
Overall, don't overlook any team, they are all good. I don't see any 'upsets' this year because every team is a good team. What team will be able to keep pressure on and play their style is what will determine the winner.

I don't see it happening. The cup will most likely go to the East. The remaining teams in West are much more physical and they will be worn down by the time it gets to the finals. Look at the possible teams that Calgary will have to play: Detroit -then most likely Anaheim, Nashville, or San Jose. Those three are very big strong teams that play fast and physical. They'd be really lucky if Vancouver and Minnesota move on. Those two are fast, but won't bruise you as bad. No matter what, by the time it gets to the Western Conference finals both teams (no matter who) will be battered and bruised. If you look out east, it's a faster, less physical style of play. I think that the west has better teams, but they'll be too drained to stand up to the East in the Finals.

i doesn't say that the Calgary Flames playoff run in 2004 became disapointing by using any stretch of the word. They weren't even meant to be in the playoffs, no longer to practice beat any of the communities they confronted. besides, they gained't win the Stanley Cup this twelve months. That award will bypass to Dallas. Dallas will beat Carolina in 7 video games.

I don't think Calgary has very good odds of surviving the first series. But if they can beat Detroit there chances are much improved.

I honestly think they will win this year's stanley cup. Because they have all the ingredients of a successful franchise with a solid coaching staff lead by Jim Playfair.

Nope. They barely made the playoffs, and lack scoring depth. It COULD happen... you never know. But I certainly would not put any money on it. The odds are next to nil.

Not a chance. There are better teams in both conferences, and they should count themselves lucky if they get past the Wings.

I don't think so. The team has been inconsistent all year and doesn't seem to respond as well with Playfair as coach.
