they're all over this because its "SAFE" even if they detected some kind of life (from these distance Im not sure exactly what they hope to find) but its not gonna scare any one even if there is.
BUT there's much more ample evidence of potential life on Mars & Europa ect that's much easier to find, even with a complicated robotic mission we should already have had the answers to these questions. Problem is..it'll ruffle ALOT of feathers back on earth..so they're takin their sweet a$$ time with it..even to the point of doctoring images so that it'll fit with "current" models..I find this ridiculous...

There are many plausible possibilities that stem from government cover ups,to mass hysteria. To try an answer both I would say that
1. The interactions of our government would tend to take any contact with et's as being a concern of national security, after all if any type of advanced knowledge were to be gained, would you not want the best cards on the table?
2. I feel that the government is afraid that if the trurh were to be known then we would have a replay of the events that occured during the release of the infamous War of the Worlds radio program that threw the U.S. into a frenzy

If you want a short answer--money. NASA is a low-priority for Washington--and since most people, like you, do not understand how science works, a low priority for the public.

If you want NASA to pick up the pace--call your Congressperson and push for increased funding.

BTW--NASA does not "doctor" photographs--they do use computer enhancement to brig out details that would otherwise be missed. But you will find no evidence of alteration (conspiracy websites do not count).

I see no evidence of NASA "playing it safe" in that article. And nobody at NASA or anywhere else is doctoring images to hide anything.

Honestly, these conspiracy theories are just crazy!
