I have a 55 gallon with the following fish, two three spot Ghoramis,
a gold ghorami,
giant ghorami (that is what he was sold to me as)
3 algae eaters,
one cory,
one large angel (I am looking for another tank to use for just an angel tank),
three tiger barbs and
one rosey barb (was an accident when I got the three algae eaters, mistake put into bag)

Everyone in the tank gets along great.
I would like to add a little more color, any suggestions. Was thinking maybe one of the smaller cichlids...or possibly some dwarf ghoramis.

You should add three or four more Tiger Barbs,to cut down on fin nipping. A school (6 or 8) fish from the Rasbora Genus might add color an flash, and should be compatible with most of the other fish, but watch the algae-eaters as they mature they can get mean. Also some more Corys of the same specie as the one you have would be a kind choice because they are also schooling fish, and really entertaining as a group of 6 or 8. If that is truly a Giant Gourami it will out-grow the tank as will the algae-eaters.----Good luck.-----PeeTee

"I also invested in a Jelly Bean Parrothead . They are colorful, they are part cichlid, but because of the cross- they can't hurt other fish, and they certainly have a personality." Corrections- They are called JellyBean Parrot fish, or chilchid. I have had a lot of them, but I prefer the larger Blood Parrot Chilchid. Also, Jellybeans are not part chilchid, they are chilchids. They can be aggresive, and mine have taken scales off of other fish and nipped fins. Sorry for correcting you, but these are some of my favorite fish.

I have a 55gal tank, and its my greatest achievement. It houses a turtle(a fish friendly, loveable fellow I named Hachi. he's about 3" long and still a baby).
Also, I have:
5 silver dollars(very interesting, beautiful, and great community fish with more personality than other schooling fish)
5 neon tetras(pretty, colorful, small and cheap)
3 baby mollies(leftovers from my livebearer breeding days)
1 goldfish(he's the perfect shape and very pretty.)
3 rainbow sharks(small yet, but fun to watch and active)
1 upside down ccatfish(when I do see him, its funny to watch him swim)
2 plecos(babies that will be moving to my mom's 90gal soon)
many ghost shrimp and malaysian snails.

For color, I like silver, so I would suggest silver dollars, pictus cats, bala sharks, etc. I am also a big fan of brackish water, so I would suggest scats and the like....

For your tank, you should go to the store and see what jumps out at you. Make sure its compatable and get it. Thats usually what I have to do to stock my many tanks. ^.^

Good luck, hope I helped.

In my 55 fresh water community tank I wanted color as well!
I had some of what you have. I also invested in a Jelly Bean Parrothead . They are colorful, they are part cichlid, but because of the cross- they can't hurt other fish, and they certainly have a personality. I would also invite you to try Diamond fish. They are beautiful, graceful and pick up the light well.

I also talked to someone at my aquarium store, and they had me buy a different light for my tank that brought out the colors of my fish!

Good Luck!

1) get 2 more rosey barbs, they prefer a group of three

2) get 2 more tiger barbs because if they are in small groups like that, they start bothering your other fish

3) get 3 more cories, they prefer to be in groups of 4

4) you should get rainbow fish, they are pretty colorful and rarely harm, harass, or attack your fish

hope this helps! :-)
