Because some people can't understand that variety is what makes us such a unique species. That without this variety we have kind of lost touch of our humanistic aspects. Because some people are scared of things that are different and things they don't understand. They feel that if everything is like they are then there will be no surprises. What a boring existence that would be.

Some because they Need to feel connected to others by accepting others opinions.
Some are just followers...
