How to accessorize my dress?

Question

I am wearing a short strapless black dress to my sophomore prom this year. How should I accessorize? I don't usually dress up a lot, and since it's only my sophomore prom I don't want to overdo it. But I still want to look unique!
And what should I do about hair? My hair is straight, black and medium-length.

Since it's strapless, skip a necklace and go for dangly earrings instead. In order to look unique, wear your hair down, with a decorative clip or headband. Everyone else will be wearing updos. Some simple black sandals with heels will look great, and maybe a fun sparkly bracelet, too! If you want to really glam it up, wear silver or red sandals instead of black. Happy prom! (I didn't even know there was such a thing as sophomore prom...)

With a strapless dress you definately want your hair up off your shoulders. A long dangly pair of earrings accentuate the neckline. When you go earring shopping, make sure to try them on. You don't want anything that feels heavy or that pulls on your ears. But do pick something sparkly. This is dress up so the rules on "garish" are relaxed.

some really colorfully jewelry would be great. or a diamond looking necklace. you could also to a shoe in a different color. something that matches your jewelry or a great red shoe. as far as hair. i love it when women wear there hair up with a strapless dress. it elongates the neck and would show off your necklace and earrings it look elegant and sexy. i know your only a sophomore. but a little sexy would not hurt

You could get a ribbon (red maybe) and make a side bow tie on the dress to look real chic. Wear red chandeliers earrings and red peep toe/ strappy sandals and red bracelets and have your hair in a half updo and half out or do loose curls. those are the best to wear with sweethearts and strapless dresses.
