Think about it - if you pump water out of the ground, it's not in the ground...so what happens to the water table?

T, in the vicinity of the pump intake it can drop significantly if the ground is made up of less permiable material. This is called a cone of depression, sand is permiable and water flows easily, the cone of depression would be less than if the ground was made of finer clays.

True. It happens under aquifers everyday. Many times the rainfall does not match the water removal.
