The asker of this question thinks like a typical white person. Sounds if you want civil rights leaders punished for fighting for weak poor people that can't fight for themselves. Can't expect privileged white people to be able to understand anything outside of themselves.
****Note**** Guilty people get off all the time, don't you watch T.V? How do you know she was lying since good lawyers get criminals charges dropped all the time? Situations like this scare me. What if I'm walking down the street and get raped by some white kids, will people now accuse me of lying to get their money when I'm the victim? Will they get off too since they have money for good lawyers and I don't?
Also know that people like Al Sharpton do care about Civil rights but not the civil rights of everyone. Who cares about the lives of privileged white kids? Al Sharpton cares about helping black people, not white people so why should he have anything to say other then what he has been saying about the legal system being corrupt?

I am a Brit. So, I don't know of the case. But, if they were deliberately falsely accused of rape, then the perpetrator should get the same sentence that the accused would of got.
In Britain, we are even nicer to our false accusers, we are not allowed to publicise their names. Presumably, therefore, they can go and do it again. In one recent case, that is precisely what one women did, several times, robbing them at the same time. Although, we are supposed to have equality, whatever that is, it only applies when convenient.
Is American Civil Rights under the control of feminists? It would be interesting to know, because that would explain a lot. Over here, they ignore gross miscarriages of justice if it doesn't support their agenda. Fairness doesn't come into it.

It's a terrible state of affairs for those boys. They will never be able to get back the last year, even if they are able to restore their reputations - there are jobs they will not even be considered for now, no matter how qualified, because some employer won't want their name attached to the scandal. They will never be able to forget, and they may have continual problems with relationships their whole life. Yes, sometimes people are falsely accused for crimes, but it very rarely is on such a public national level.
I think it's time to prosecute the strippers and the D.A. for this witch-hunt, and whomever allowed it to drag on and on with no proof whatsoever should have the guts to resign or be fired. Surely the D.A. was accountable to someone!

I too am confused by the lack of reponse from the civil rights leaders. Maybe Al Sharpton could go help those boys get their lives back?
Just a thought.

I thought that US law meant that cases like this didn't drag on for a long time but wait, people in jail are left for 20 odd years before being exexcuted so i'm confused? Three 'white men', 'black stripper' can't see it happening dude! Can't see black people signing up for war to fight to keep this S.H.I.T going, however, if they do give me a gun and tell me to kill the enemy guess where i'm going first!

Nobody needs to apologize to these boys. Had they not been hustling strippers, they would not have gotten caught up in this mess. They hired 2 Black strippers for the night. In fact, they actually requested Black strippers, which is very curious. These jocks are not completely innocent and if you believe they are, you're not being completely honest.
This is not a civil rights case. It's a case about a bunch of low-life college jocks who got caught in their mischieve, and if anyone needs an apology, it's their parents.

The problem here is that we have all heard the history of justice for blacks in America where there have been times and places in the states when you could not convict a white man of even killing a black man. Okay maybe times have changed but there is still that nagging feeling that this could be another case of a white cover up

Those Duke kids will never get an apology...It is absurd that they were even accused of raping that girl...her story had major holes in it from the very beginning. Jesse and Al should be ripped for defending that girl....and they should have to apologize for what they did to those WHITE BOYS...as you said they are ruined for life....

If you are talking about Jessie "Hymie Town" Jackson and Al "Tawana Brawley" Sharpton; they are too busy playing the race card to actually do any good.

Yeah but just wait...their day just may be coming.
The lawyers left every door open yesterday when commenting on who may be sued as result of this case.
