For something like Finance, a typical assistant professor at a top B-School in the US would start somewhere between $140K and 170K, get 2/9th summer support for a few years, get a discretionary spending fund anywhere from $10K to $40K and would get a reduced teaching load.

Someone in the liberal arts might get a starting salary of $70-80K

Someone at a lesser school gets less.
