Don Imus has been dismissed because people want justice, however it is a different standard. Look at Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Rosie O'Donnell, Geraldo; they have all been offensive and possibly they should be removed as well.
I state my opinion; maybe I should be removed. It is true that Don Imus said something wrong, however how many times did the news cast repeat it causing even more damage?
I have not been a fan of Imus; however I do value my freedom.
He apologized, that is what was needed. What use will it be for him to be nailed to a cross ??
On the other hand, no charges were pressed against the person who said she was raped by Duke La Crosse Players, why not ? If someone causes harm like she did, charges and penalties should be assessed. By her doing this, takes away from those that have been truly raped, and takes away the credibility of future victims (?)

It's really not up to you or me, whether he loses his job or not. It's up to his boss.
And I can say, without hesitation, that I support any employer's right to fire an employee who routinely makes rascist and hateful remarks. Period.
I don't think the Rutgers team needs to grow a backbone either. Personally, I think they've handled the whole thing with class, despite Sharpton and Jackson's attempt to incite their own brand of hatred.
How would you feel if someone went on national radio and called YOUR daughter and her entire hardworking team a "nappy headed ho" for no reason whatsoever?
EDIT TO POST: Truth be told, I don't think any of the Rutgers players feel their lives have been ruined because of a stupid remark. They're used to such ignorance -- and rascism -- on an almost daily basis.
Neither do I agree with the Sharpton and the Jacksons of the world.
My point, once again, is I support Imus' boss in his right to fire a man who routinely offends and incites hatred. That's just good business sense.

I definitely think he should be reprimanded. I see both sides of this... on Imus' point- he's in radio... people feed on things that make a mark, he would not have the ratings if he was this super nice butt kisser on radio (he is involved in many charities and organizations), Think about it, would you rather watch Jerry Springer or Phil Donahue? Exactly!
On the other hand, I feel he went TOO far with the words used towards the Rutgers. He did go a little too far....
He should not lose his job, but I smell a LARGE lawsuit!

The corporation that is contemplating weather or not to fire Imus is the very same corporation that is making millions producing rap music, So if Imus would have added a little rhythm to his "Nappy headed Ho" remark and added a few million to the bank account then all would be forgiven.

No, Black culture is the problem, not Imus. I was cool with the suspension, but firing some 65 year old dude isnt gonna do squat. Censor some of the demeaning things rappers and comedians say about blacj women, fire them. Not some old guy who just said too much at the wrong time when he should have just shut the hell up.

yeah he does deserve to lose his job because he has had a long history of saying bad comments about women, gays, and other minorities not just blacks. even though we have freedom of speech, you still have to be conscious of your audience. What if a school teacher go in front of her kindergarten class and started cursing f***, MF, B***, ****** etc...we would all be outraged, but techinically it is freedom of speech. Buy you expect people to have some tact. WHat if a minister got up in the middle of a head of states funeral and said" this lazy mf, b**#$%^&&' there would be outrage, why? because it is inappropriate. Don imus has a history of inappropriate comments and if he can't do any better than what he has been doing he needs to go

Funny how thick-skinned and tough some people can be when stuff isn't being hurled at them. Would you feel the same way if one of the girls had been your own daughter? I bet if I called you a name here on Yahoo, you would be ticked off!! Oh no?

No, he should NOT lose his job.........If someone wants to call me a "nappy headed ho" then let them. My feelings are not hurt by someone who doesn't even know me.
In my opinion all those people who take offense to everything need to grow a backbone. Just live your frickin' life and quit trying to nit-pick the country to death!!
