Okay I understand that the president is not king and that this is a democracy. That is a given. However, a democracy is a system of rules. Rules that we vote on to maintain some semblance of order. Now, maybe the presidents strategy toward foreign policy has been questionable but he is the one making the rules for the next year and a half. She went to Syria to satisfy her personal issues with him, at least thats what I assume, because she couldve easily gone to him and gotten an approval. So why then, if she would do this to disrespect the office of president, should she not be charged under Logans Act?

not sure if she should be charged, but for sure she is undermining the country and national security. just for personal grandstanding.

either we speak with one voice, that of the oval office, or we do not speak at all.

Attorney general Gonzales should go to the House of Rep. and tell them I fired the lawyers cause we wanted to and that is all you need to know about this. Also I am here to pick up Pelosi for breaking the Logan Act. Try her and let her sit in jail for this stunt she pulled in Syria and is fixing to pull in Iran with the president. Pelosi is a Treasonist and should not be in Washington Representing her district more less the Speaker of the house. This was just another way of telling the people of the US that she don't have to follow the laws of the Constitution!

members of Congress do not require the president's permission to visit heads of state. they have been doing this for years, centuries in fact. good will missions and fact finding tours are extremely common. There is not declared hostilities between Syria and the US. The only thing that has occurred is GWB refusing to meet with them one-on-one and the basis for his reluctance is his own distrust. as for the Logan act, that applies to private citizens negotiating with foreign governments. she is an elected official and her agenda was NOT negotiations but rather a good will visit.

Yes for sure I said that last week already. I think they should have met her at the airport and slapped the cuffs on her there. Threw her butt in the slam for a few hours/days. Noway she does the time mandated for the crime which is three years. However the queen bee needs to get knocked down off her pedestal a few notches. She is dangerous to this country. Now her Kerry and I cant remember who else is pissin off Pakistan Great they are our allies you idiots!!! God

Considing the certainty that the u . s . has a DISfunctional State branch who's interest that's to speak to those that're neither pals nor actively battling the u . s ..... specific. Syria is an exciting case because by some ability they seem to be a place the CIA "renditions" human beings it needs to torture, yet isn't approved to or chooses to not itself. Why might Syria be soooo amenable in doing CIA grimy artwork interior the "conflict on terror" and yet join the "axis of evil" itself?? It would not make experience to me.

It was purely, plainly, and simply a partisan slap in the face to Bush and his policies and had the sad effect of encouraging and emboldening our enemies by showing how divided our government is. It also showed her gross ineptness in that Israel had to rebuke her for misrepresenting them to Assad. She did much more harm than good by her trip and should be censured for it if not prosecuted. The democrats should be seriously embarressed by this debacle of one of their 'leaders'.

i see that you have no mention of the republicans who were with her and doing the exact same thing - how tiresome.

but you are right, bush is not a king and it's more and more clear that he no longer has the interests of the american people at heart.

i support pelosi taking over all foreign relations issues.

bush is a wonk, and the sooner we all realize that the better off we'll all be...

because that wouldn't be politically expedient to charge the Speaker of the House with treason just because she is a traitor
