ok first off, im not gay. im actually bi-curious, but mostly straight. second, this question was geared towards those who are homophobic OR those who believe that homosexuality is a sin. if you are not NOR believe this, then this question does not apply to you.

also, those of you using procreation as an excuse to avoid the question, gay people can reproduce. just not with each other. a lesbian couple can take an ovum and sperm from a friend or sperm bank and have a baby that way OR a gay couple can take their sperm and ensiminate a sarrogate.

Just want to say that I am a Christian, AND a gay rights supporter. I hate that many people view Christians as homophobes and gay-haters. It's not true.
The way I see it is that we are all equal regardless of age, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc. and all deserve the same legal rights to marry, adopt, etc.
We are all deserving of love too. By our fellow man, and our God (if you believe in one). And whether you view homosexuality as a sin or not doesn't matter, because God loves us all regardless.
Unfortunately, alot of people are hypocritical, whatever religion they are. The sad thing is that God tells us to love one another... period. It doesn't say love everyone EXCEPT homosexuals, or transexuals, or anyone else. That's where people screw up. Love is love is love and we are all expected to love one another.
People get too wrapped up in the fact that the Bible "says not to be gay". Technically, it refers to "men who lie with men," since sodomy was considered a deviant sexual act. (BTW, oral sex is also considered a deviant sexual act and is mentioned in Webster's definition of sodomy - but we don't shun people for that now do we?) The whole point was that, biologically speaking, men and women were MADE for each other. Look at every other animal on the planet... the whole point of having two sexes is procreation. But love and procreation don't always go hand in hand anymore. People choose whether or not to have children.
Bottom line is this: If you love someone for who they are, then it doesn't matter what they look like, or what their gender is. True love can never be wrong.

Although it is a provocative question, look at the answers you've gotten so far, the truth is, it's too much of a reach. Heterosexuals, all of them, can never fully understand what it is to be homosexual anymore than I as a homosexual could understand what it is to be heterosexual. Also, I think you labelling heterosexuals as homophobes is a bit disingenuous. Now, with that out of the way, I must respond to some of the answers you've received because clearly the point of the question was missed.
A. Being homosexual is NOT an abomination, only religious people believe this and note the word BELIEVE. Belief is not fact, it is at best conjecture.
B. Those who throw the red herring of procreation still fail to understand that gays and lesbians can have sexual relations for the purpose of procreation. You're confusing basic biology with sexuality, the two are not automatically the same.
C. If, for the sake of argument the above statement were true, don't kid yourselves, you'd be screaming for equal rights as loud as you could.
D. For those who CLAIM to have gay friends...... spare me, you don't. If you wish to lie to yourselves please do so, but don't lie to me or others here.
E. For those who profess that they would actually 'change' if God said change belies to important points. 1. if you would change just on his orders, then why are you defying his order to love all His children and not just the straight ones? 2. trying to turn the argument around and ask why we don't try to be as you believe He wants us to be is dishonest on its face, and you know it.
F. is for Finally, not all heterosexuals are homophobes but judging by many of the answers here, many on YA! are. You can't pick and choose on a whim. You either believe gays are people and thus worthy of the same treatment and respect or you don't. There is no middle ground on this. The sooner people realize this the better off we'll all be.
NOTE: thankfully for myself, this question and these issues are not a concern as I live in a Country which has constitutional guaranteed equality rights for Homosexuals.

what if frogs ran the world? What if dogs used the toilet? What if you stopped making up ridiculous what if questions and got used to reality? Heterosexuals procreate so we wouldn't have to whine about not being able to adopt children. Have you been smoking something?

The world would be a lot less populated for one thing....
Why would we demand rights to adopt? Straight people can procreate. That's kinda one of the points, isn't it?
Are all of us straight people homophobes? I'm not. You're gay? Okay, so what?
*edit*
Durr..yeah..I'm already for equal rights amongst everybody. Human = Human, no?

since we "homophobes", which i find insulting, arent in that situation i can only assume yes. i don't condemn gays or lesbians for seeking equal rights, but it is rediculous to do so in such a time as this where this country hates itself so much. 15 years it will possibly be legal, so dont hold your breath.

question is stupid....
Im not against gays and I am all for them getting married.... hell they should have the chance to be miserable in marriage just like us straight guys (Kidding ladies), but the question is just dumb. Straight people are needed to procreate, so straight people will never be the minority in sexual preference relations.

A lot of things that homophobic heterosexuals take part in are labeled abominations in the bible (adultery, having sex beofre marriage, lying, stealing, cursing, alcoholism, lusting) , BUT they still choose to throw stones inside of their glass mobile homes. Judgemental hipocrites disgust me.

Anything is a sin especially if you think that it is. That's not what Christianity is about anyway. We are sinners. Christians told God that if they did what's called the 'Sinner's Prayer.'
So not doing one or another sin doesn't make us Christian, but we who trust God through Jesus Christ are saved and thus Christian, as people call it.
That brings the 'covering' for sin, as Jesus was the sacrifice for sin, so the believer is covered if they trust God to do what it is that He said He would do.
