1. Check water temperature. Is it in correct range. Freswater tropical fish need 70 to 80 F.
2. Check ammonia and nitrate levels. A good stockist will test a water sample for a very small charge and advise the best thing to do if anything is needed.
3. Don't overfeed, all food should be gone in about 2 minutes.
4. Airate the water; air pump and ornaments for this.
Get some real plants in the water as this can help with this and they look good and help keep the water clean.
5. Remove any ill fish onto another tank until well, it can help stop the spread of infection: this can be a smaller plastic tank floating in the main one: the fish can still see the others and so do not get as lonely or jittery.
Sometimes theres nothing we can do and life takes its own course.

You need to be sure and get the temperature high enough first. To treat ich it needs to be in the 88-90 F range. Also be sure you have added enough salt. 1 level tablespoon per gallon is good. Be sure to add the salt over time, a little at the time over the course of a few hours. Raise the temperature slowly as well. About a degree an hour is comfortable for the fish.
The treatment will take a full day or more to begin to show improvement on the fish and you should keep the salt and heat at these levels for at least 5 days after the last white spot is gone.

Did you check the nitrate and amonia levels? Usually if there is an change in the water of any kind these levels will spike and you will have to stabalize them. Try checking them as well as the PH. Don't get any new fish until the water is back to normal. You can also try replacing 50 percent of the water with already treated water. Also, if it's been a day or two get the temperature back to normal. Hopefully this helps. Good luck and I hope your fish are feeling better soon.

Well some fish have disises and they die from hot water the water is surposed to be about 60 degres not 80. Make sure the fish have enough food and alot of water. They need to be fed atleast 3 times a day in the morning, in the afternoon, and at night. And make sure you get the right kind of food and don't feed them to much or that's sometimes how they die. Take very very good care of them.
