you have to take the bottom number and divide it into the top number. then the remainder stays in the fraction. so like 44/7 so you get your calculator and take 44 divided 7 which is 6.285 so your whole number is 6. then you take 7 multiply 6 which is 42 then subtract that from 44 which will give you your remainder which is 2 so the mixed number is 6 2/7 hope this helps

It's kind of hard to explain, but with 12/11, you figure that 11 goes into 12 one time. Then, you have a remainder of 1 (12-11=1). So, 12/11 as a mixed number would be 1 1/11. 17/15 as a mixed number would be 1 2/15. 26/8 as a mixed number would be 3 2/8 which is 3 1/4. And, 44/7 as a mixed number would be 6 2/7. To check, you can subtract the original fractions from the mixed number (or vice versa) and it should equal zero. I hope this helps.

1 1/11, 1 2/15, 3 1/4, 6 2/7
12 divided by 11 = 1 remainder 1 so its 1 and 1 eleventh
17 divided by 15 = 1 remainder 2 so that is 1 and 2 fifteenths
26 divided by 8 = 3 remainder 2 so that is 3 and 2 eighths
but you have to write the two eighths in its lowest form which is 1/4 so therefore the answer is 3 1/4
44 divided by 7 = 6 remainder 2 so that is 6 and 2 sevenths
Hope this helps.

Fractions consist of two numbers. The top number is called the numerator. The bottom number is called the denominator.
numerator
__________
denominator
An improper fraction is a fraction that has a numerator larger than or equal to its denominator. A proper fraction is a fraction with the numerator smaller than the denominator.
A mixed number consists of an integer followed by a proper fraction.
Example: The improper fraction 8/5 can be changed to the mixed number 1 3/5 by dividing the numerator (8) by the denominator (5). This gives a quotient of 1 and a remainder of 3. The remainder is placed over the divisor (5).

You have to divide the denominator (bottom) into the numerator (top).
Ex. 12/11 would be - 1 1/11, 17/15 would be - 1 2/15...
Hope this helps.
