There is no way to be sure they will not break but to reduce the risk you should do the following: Make sure the condom is the right size otherwise it might slip off or split Never use two together they will split easier Use a suitable lubricant check what they tell you to avoid Put the condom on properly and at the start of the session Never reuse condoms and check the use by date. Use a spermicide as well if possible or use a condom with spermicide lubrication. Most importantly make sure you put on the condom properly. open carefully making sure you do not tear the condom place in position gently squeezing the bubble at the top to expel the air so sperm has somewhere to go, then gently roll down the erect penis. The pill is the safest method if taken correctly and your doctor will not tell your parents that you are on it. Personally I would rather my daughter told me the truth and took the pill than risk an unwanted pregnancy. But remember the only 100% way to make sure you do not get pregnant is not to have sex things go wrong so you have to be able to deal with the outcome if they do.

durex have never given me a problem...my boyfriend came up with a good way of checking if they've split at all - fill them with water when you've done and see if any squirts out

none of them are guaranteed not to break, but usually the more you spend the better the quality.
