99.9% of the time if you have a period you are not pregnant.
However, there are those very rare cases where the women has some light period anyway. I have a family friend who was already overweight, got pregnant, thought she was gaining more weight, had light periods and went into labor and thought she was having a problem with her gut. She went to the hospital and delivered the baby not knowing she was pregnant.
However, this is the exception. If you are having a period is it is highly unlikely you are pregnant. If you have some suspicions that you are pregnant and still having a period, see a doctor. You may not be having a period, but bleeding which could be a sign of several serious problems.

Yes, I did! I tried to conceive in January 2005, but then got my period on the normal day later that month. So, I gave up and figured I wasn't pregnant. The next month, we didn't try, but I had my period again. This time it was lighter and didn't last as long. Then, in March, I found out I was almost 12 weeks pregnant!!!!
