Why is it the left believes Conservatives are trying to strip them of their freedoms? Murder, destruction of public property, and treason are not considered "freedoms".

Correction: Meaning

Think4u: Do not attempt to explain to me how the "liberals" fought for our freedoms - most vets would cringe to hear that statement. By the way - my HUSBAND and SON are currently serving in the Middle East and my FATHER served in Korea and Vietnam - Thank God that NONE of them believe(d) they are (were) fighting for a liberals right to have an abortion.

I do not need to cite a reference for a commonly accepted fact - LIBERALS believe in abortion.

My family is proud to have volunteered and served the country. They have served under both Democratic and Republican Presidents.

Liberals did not grant them to you so of course, the system is flawed to them. They consider themselves to be the ruling class anointed by God to run the USA. That is the main reason they hate GW Bush, because he beat them twice and they have been throwing a tantrum ever since.

Not all liberals believe in abortion. That is most definitely not a fact. Are your family members proud that they are serving a president who is stripping the constitution by way of signing statements. Are they proud that Bush is pushing for the SPP, which will make a North American Union just like the EU. Are they proud that the government can open your mail, listen to your phone calls, deny habeas corpus??????

No one on the left ever said that murder and the rest of the nonsense you talk about are freedoms.
However tapping into the phone line of an American while they are in the US, without a court order signed by a judge, is unconstitutional but it's being being rationalized away by the right.
Habius Corpus is a fundamental right that the president seems to think he has the authority to suspend at will.
If you want to have a serious discussion on this issue then you shouldn't start by asking ridiculous questions. When you do that you diminish the sacrifice of people who have actually died trying to protect the rights I mentioned and others.

Well the conservatives in government pushed thru the Patriot Act which violates amendments 1,4,5,6 and 14. Hence stripping away of freedom

not rocket science here...if right goes around taking freedoms away "in the name of security" then you have lost freedoms.

Please read Constitution and tell me where it says "And the govt shall do as they please, override the will of the people, ignore and violate this document"

Murder is not a freedom, destruction of public property is not a freedom...as for treason the conservatives have done this so go talk to the right and explain it to them

iamct01>> true and good points but the Constitution was written under assumption that all rights and power belong orginally to the people. So you got it right that it does not give rights, because they are already ours, but it tells them govt what it can do, which if not said means we have right to it.

idoradwa>> Nope you got it all wrong..if you did you would understand why conservatives are not clean of this..they have raped and pissed on the bill of rights. ACLU goes off track yes but the majority of their work IS in accordance with Bill of Rights

I have quite a few conservative relatives who support a woman's freedom to choose for herself.

I have family that marched for women's suffrage and stood up for Civil Rights for all Americans before it was "the thing to do".

I'm a DAR and my family (both the liberal and conservative members) have been fighting in this country's wars since day one. They're in it now. The only abomination I see here is your insistence we all ascribe to YOUR point of view.

Perhaps if you march on down to the White House lawn you can stomp your feet, rant all you like and feel good about it. If you're lucky - they won't cart you off.

I'm not sure where you get your news from but Liberals do not thing murder and treason are freedoms. Do a little research. In fact I'm from florida where the Conservatives are the ones committing murder and violating all kinds of illegal activities and they praise each other for it. Infact they allowed the elections to be tampered with so Conservatives get into office. This is an illegal act and the Conservatives do it, so I guess they are the ones that don't understand the meaning of freedoms, they just do as they please without regard for others. I saw this happen with my own eyes I didn't get it from a TV or a news paper. Conservatives in Florida are satin.

First, please read our Bill of Rights (link below - it won't take too long)

Libs read the same thing a conservitive does and interperates the same words differntly. It's easy to take a statement and have it mean differnt things to differnt people.

Liberals try to interperate our rights to they're liking. Look at the first amendment mentioning government and religion. The ORIGINAL intent is quite different from the ACLU's perspective.

If you take the Bill of Rights and REALLY study it and the circumstances and era it was written, you will KNOW what it means and how it applies to us today. Most Liberals do not take the time to study all of the above. They read it and make an instant desicion, based on what their AGENDA is.

A conservitive takes the bill of rights, and conservitively studies the truths of it's contents, intentions and meaning. That's a basic aspect of conservitism.

Someone told me radio personality Don Imus, from Imus in the morning, was sitting at a midtown Manhattan pub crying silly in his suds. As the night wore on, he started to mumble something about "liberals." Not exactly sure what he said, yet I could only guess.

Where are you going with this question? Are you referring to the Patriot Act? I don't know of anything in the Constitution that refers to murder and destruction of public property that any liberal would want to defend. Obviously treason is a punishable offense and which "Liberal" are you referring to who said that a person accused of treason needed protection?
Please rephrase your question so that it makes sense and can be debated with common sense.

Liberals AND conservatives understand the freedoms in the constitution...they just interpret them differently.
