I would guess that it would be approximately one hour after I won £8,000,000 on the National Lottery. Or maybe a few minutes earlier.

It could be 28 minutes from now or 280 years from now. When the superpowers square off against each other in two camps, then come back and we'll talk apacolpse.
Until then, just think regional conflicts, wars between rump states, proxy wars and brinksmanship. If you recall the Yom Kippur War in 1973, a coalition of Arab States (Egypt, Syria and Jordan) were soundly defeated by the Israelis. That was a worse situation than the current conflict and it didn't raise a blip on the world war radar (not that it didn't have the potential to spark a global war).
The next World War will involve a nuclear exchange, how could it not. In the first 30 minutes, nearly a billion people will have been vaporised, mostly in the US, Russia, Europe, China and Japan. Another 1.5 billion will die shortly thereafter from radiation poisoning. The northern hemisphere will be plunged into prolonged agony and barbarity.
Eventually the nuclear winter will spread to the southern hemisphere and all plant life will die. You ask when is the apacolypse, you are asking when will we commit global suicide. My answer is it won't happen soon because the larger superpowers are more rational than the rump states in the middle east.
Our biggest risk is an accidental launch of nukes by one of the nuclear powers.

The world is ending all the time. People have been claiming the is near for thousands of years. You can take it as a personal thing, it ends when you die. Or you can take it as a science thing and find out when the planet will die. Most likely, the world as you know it will end when there is a natural disaster. Then a whole new world starts. That's what happened with that huge tsunami, or with hurricane Katrina. Humans are not powerful enough to end the world, no matter how egotistical we get. Even a tiny virus like the bird flu is much more deadly than any human will ever be. Your best bet is to stay healthy, prepare for the type of natural disasters that are common in your area, like earth quakes, tornado's or hurricanes, and grow a garden in case the prices of food goes up. Add flowers for the joy they bring.

The world ends for you when you die. Same for me and everyone else. At least the world as we know it. The world will survive if you read the bible. Same reason I don't get all scared by Global warming ( been freezing here lately)
Sounds like you have a death wish.If you are very religious and are wanting the Lord to take over, that 's fine. I don't think he wants everyone killing themselves to make this come quicker though.
Like everything else, it will happen alot sooner that you REALLY want. May change your mind when it starts to come about. Life is precious, you can make yours precious or not, but don't waste it since it's the only one we know of right now.

An interesting concept below: looks like it happened 4 and a half hours ago!

It's only 4:30 a.m. in Earth's "day in the sun," as they put it, but by 5 a.m. the 1 billion-year reign of plants and animals will come to an end. By 8 a.m. the oceans will vaporize.
By noon it will all be over, about 7.5 billion years down the road.

To ask "when will the world end" confuses me. Is it the end of man that the ? asks, or is it the end of the planet?
Noone can ever say... we could be here today, and tomorrow, but what about next week? A giant three headed ALIEN race could come from another galaxy and decide to imprison all the men of earth for sacrificial consumption, and then only women would be left(or vise versa). Then what?

I use to say things like that myself so know where you are coming from. I stopped worrying about it when i decided that instead of waiting for the end, I would just adjust the present and be happy with myself. Finding my inner peace not by how other behave but how i myself respond to how other behave. Life is but a journey which can be an adventure or a stale never-ending nightmare depending on your frame of mind. To start our journey of enlightenment we must first ignore what others may think and accept only things we fully understand, remove all those things that make us unhappy and replace them with things that are sure to make us happy.

Your world will end when you put an end to yourself..good grief talk about depressing...
The world will end give or take a 100 yrs, mankind is too selfish to give a damn about the planet. Its being raped on a constant basis and mother nature can only take so much before she breaks...
Man is self destructive, I reckon it will all end with a world war...or else mother nature will drown us all with climate change and scorching heat! either way i intend to enjoy it until God says otherwise...
But if you wanted to give a damn and actually do something try joining Green peace and helping your surrounding environment. that's what I did and I feel good for making my world that little bit better...
You shouldn't be such a Pessimist!

hmmmm it's already in the process...
global warming...
the ice caps are slowly melting-- some of them never recovered... hmmmm.... actually there are scientists that predicted it could be by 2040... (well because of the ice caps) but some other scientists would say it could be sooner or later... it could be tomorrow....
we can't be sure... the only thing that we know is that it would eventually come to an end.. and surely- we have contirbuted a lot to it's making... ahahah
anyway.. i suggest you watch the INCONVENIENT TRUTH ^^

I don't know about the world but humanity will become extinct in the year 2012.
Sorry, I do not know the month or how it will happen but it is an almost certain (approx 98%) fact that it will end in 2012.
