Sharpton = Racist

Imus = Racist

So why are we still talking about them? Why are we still paying them any attention and inflating their fame? Shouldn't we just ignore their bigotry and move on.. they are stuck in a world that we have moved on from.. and the only way to move forward is to stop dwelling on the past and relics of the past such as these two.. wouldn't you say?

You know.. I live in Little Rock AR.. remember that movie about the national guard being called in to a high school to let the 9 black children go to school? yup that was here.. and today I can walk down the street.. stop and have a conversation with pretty much any black person I run into.. granted there are some that might mug me.. but there are whites and latins here that might mug me was well... the point is that we aren't the same world that these two support. We are a younger world that has reached out more than ever before.

Yeah, I think that ignoring these guys (especially Sharpton) would probably be the best punishment for them. By the way, I live in North Little Rock. SALUTE!:)

So, Imus, an idiot who for years has offended everyone, is now in a pit of boiling tar for his stupid comment. Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton are grilling him and throwing a fit.

How come the two Rev's don't have the same distain for the Rap "artists"? This music is loaded with slurs, advocates violence upon women, celebrates drug use and criminal activity.

Wouldn't it seem that if the Rev's really cared about the community and wanted to end the inner city plight, they would go after the medium that has a wide audience and not worry about what a has been DJ is spewing?

I am sick to death of turning on the TV and hearing about Imus every day.

The only good to come out of this may be the question of "Who can say what and get away with it?" The double standard is going to take a big beating after this, and that may be a positive. But I think it will just get lip service and everything will continue as usual.

Still sick of hearing about it.

Actually, the overwhelming majority of people ignore Al Sharpton - and the overwhelimg majority of people NEVER listened to Imus's show.

However, the corporations are scared of Al's extortionistic tactics (calls for boycotts that probably would never materialize, etc.), and talking heads on TV looooooove Al, because he is "controversial" and "edgy."

Because ignoring something doesn't make it go away, and this Imus issue is, whether you like what he said or not, a good example of what's wrong with our country.

Here! Here!

You are one sane voice in a cacophony of the rediculous.

Now, can we get on to something important that actually has AFFECTS on our lives and the country?
