There are two ways to reach "Dahanu". Both are comfortable but the mode of transport depends on "when you will be reaching Mumbai airport". If you reach early morning, then plentiful of options are available on trains section. If it's night or late evening, better that you arrange for the road travel.

TRAINS:

Reach Andheri station on western railway. If you have got manageable luggage, autorickshaws is the best option from airport to station. From Andheri you can get a train to Dahanu. Few trains halt at Andheri. Few trains start from Bandra and halt at Andheri.
Alternately, you can catch a local train to Virar. From Virar, there are several trains (Shuttle / memu trains) going towards Dahanu throughtout the day.

ROAD

Take to National Highay ( known as Ahmedabad highway). Keep going northwards. Soon you will reach Mumbai limits / check naka. Keep going and you will cross Kashimira. Soon you will be crossing Bhayander bridge. Keep going. You will cross Vasai naka, then Virar naka. Keep on the national highway. Don't take any turns anywhere from the 4-lane national highway. You will come to Manor naka (useful to go to Palghar), Chillar Naka ( useful to go to Boisar). Keep going and soon you will reach Dahanu Naka. Take a left turn here and keep going till you reach Dahanu. You need to arrange for a vehicle.

Happy journey.

You can either travel by road or by train. Travel by road will be expensive as compared to train. You can travel from Airport to Andheri Railway Station by Taxi. From Andheri you can catch a train to Borivili and from Borivilin you can catch the train to Dhanu, which will be much cheaper as compared to travel by RToad.
