Do not say because they are black because there are plenty of white rappers that use deragatory terms. Jesse Jackson needs to get his *** over to the major record labels and stay there until they pull every CD if this is how it works.

Well for one thing when rappers rap they are telling a story (fictitious) of some kind and usually no one person is singled out. When rappers rap they rap from experience and are usually just speaking of females in general. When Mr. Imus spoke he specifically was talking about the Rutgers Female Basketball Team, so they were singled out as a whole, then he went into his own personal rendition of how he viewed there appearances. Now in America we have the right to say what we want as long as it does not infringe on another person rights. He clearly offended them with his choice of words, to the point were some cried, and others were just infuriated. It was not just the players either it was coaches, fans and other supporters. The bottom line is he put his foot in his mouth. That's why the saying goes, "If you don't have anything good to say, then keep your mouth closed". I think a lot of celebrities should revisit that little saying. People always want to go after anybody else they can to take the heat and pressure off themselves. The rappers don't have anything to do with what he did. As far as the record companies are concerned they probably don't care what the rappers are saying; the same women the rappers are calling these names are buying there music and dancing in the videos. The public is eating it up, they are making money and nobody is complaining. Mr. Imus needs to be made to take responsibilty for his own actions, the same as anyone else and deal with whatever consequences are handed down to him. The problem with society is that eveyone is looking for the scapegoat, somebody to pass the buck to. Stand up and be a man, stick by your words, you said them so boldly before, apologize to the young ladies for any offense taken and to anyone else who was offended by his comments and leave it be. People need to think before they speak or else let it be known that you are expressing your personal, and when opinions are of the negative sort like that, one might want to consider just keeping them to yourself. All the best.

I don't know.

I'm still wondering why Ann Coulter can appear before the RNC and call Edwards a f*ggot, and those in attendance cheered her and the only reason that Romney, McCain and Guillianni distanced themselves from her was because they were shamed into it.

Why is it that the good Christian CONservatives forgive Ann Coulter for using derogatory terms against gays and the widows from 9/11, excusing her crass behavior as being a joke, while ignoring that the terms that she applies to others are just as bad as the things Imus said.

Why is Rosie O'Donnel attacked and demonized for her opinions, while Ann Coulter is revered for her outrageous and cruel attacks?

How about Rush Limbaugh making fun of Michael J. Fox?

How about Donald Trump declaring that GW Bush is the worst president in the history of the USA and he goes unscathed?

Double standards, I would think is the answer.

relatively it replaced right into a stupid, insulting remark. i don't think of that's a racist remark, besides the undeniable fact that. It wasn't a remark concerning the participant's race yet quite their collective hairstyles. Being "nappy-headed" isn't the unique area of blacks (even with the certainty that there are lots of who could be recognized as that); there are others who're not black who could be recognized as such to boot. The "ho" remark, i don't likely be attentive to why that replaced into reported, till Imus only spit it out off the cuff. i be attentive to that comments have been additionally created from quite some of the females being heavily tattooed and appearing "tough-finding" yet how that can cause them to "hos" i don't be attentive to. That being reported, Sharpton, Jackson, et al are searching for for yet another threat to extra their time table by using stressful Imus' firing and putting yet another "whitey", "honky", or perhaps if in his/her place, all interior the call of political correctness. Imus will proceed his occupation in radio, even if if he's fired for this or not.

well it is thought that since blacks had to endure so much and were called the "N" word and other degrading things, that it is ok for us to use them. then you have the ignorant black person who says that we took a word meant to degrade us and turned it around into a positive(i don't know how?). but truth of the matter is you are absolutely right, but it is more of if an outsider degrades us, then now we have a problem. personally i wish the "N" word would just go away. i personally don't use it will not allow my kids to use it, and ask people not to use it around me. for some i would be labeled an uncle tom for saying that, but that's how I feel. i do not listen to gangsta rap or anything that talks a lot about nothing. this could go on forever, but bottom line is, it just shows you how divided our country is with our "we the people" and "divided we stand " phrases. we all make mistakes, we all contradict ourselves, and say things we wished we could have taken back from time to time. i don't know what the outcome should be, but this whole country needs a class in the treatment of others.

What do you mean Imus cannot? He DID say it. That doesn't mean those basketball players from Rutgers and whomever else don't have the right to respond. If someone called your a Nappy headed ho, would you just stand still and take it?

No one stopped him from saying "nappy headed hos". He wasn't censored. Everyone heard those words come from his mouth.

Bottom line: Imus got to say what he said. Others people have the right to say they want to say in response. And if advertisers want to pull their support from the show, they are allowed to do that too. No one covered his mouth and kept him from saying what he said.

Apparently you can only say a term if you'd sleep with one.
