I doubt if white people laugh at racial/ethnic jokes any more than other ethnic groups laugh at white people jokes.

Ethnic Jokes Racist

They might be racist, but not necessarily.

I can laugh at ethnic jokes because I appreciate the humor based on the stereotype. I don't live my life by those stereotypes. I don't hire and fire based on race. I don't choose my friends based on race. I find women of other races attractive and would have no problem bringing them home to mother.

But I'd still laugh at a good nasty ethnic joke now and again.

I mean, take sexist jokes - can you laugh at those jokes that go around the internet about how men's brains have only three areas - sex, sleep and food? I think they're kinda funny, does that make me sexist against men?

I laugh when black comedians mock white guys with their fake high-pitched overly-stilted comic voice. Does that make me racist against whites?

If the drink would come out the nose wouldn't that happen when the person finally gets the delayed punch line?Comedians say what they want to their crowd, some are racist remarks, but they get a laugh for their remarks. All comedians look to make people laugh. If you are old enough to remember the time that was had to get racist to keep their remarks to themselves, you would understand a lot better..

I think that we all poke fun at other people for various reasons age, sex, weight, race or when someone has a funny nose or big feet. I think that because of the history of this country, race has been a sensitive issue almost taboo even, as a result people have to be careful not to offend others for the sake of peace. So to answer your question if the person believes that all people of a race are REALLY stereotypical like their jokes then I would say there is some racism.

I am from Croatia (you have probably never heard of it, I know) and around here we're almost all caucasian, but I have travelled a lot, especially to Spain and Italy and have met a lot of people who were from different races. I would NEVER laugh at something like that and would never make a joke about someone who had a different skin coulour than mine. That is considered a very primitive act amongst most of my friends and if anyone ever tried to make a race-related joke, they got judged very quickly. So, I would say, it's not a good way to joke, it's just lame. She is being rude and I know you like her and it hurts you. It's normal and you didn't overreact.

I don't think it makes them racist. First off all they are in attendance to watch a black comedian perform, a real racist would never let that notion cross his mind. I think it is just the humor in the joke, they might have black friends or even family and just might be able to relate to the joke in some way. They might have just thought it was that funny. All the best.
