If you are making something for a baby, I would stick with the baby yarn. There's a big difference in 2 ply and 4 ply yarn. Red Heart will soften up in the washer. I've made many cardigans for myself with this yarn. Wash your garment in cold water with liquid detergent(I use Tide)and fabric softener. Put it in the dyer on low heat and toss in a dryer sheet. Make sure you have the heat on a very low setting to prevent shrinkage.

Red Heart's website would indicate which colors are discontinued. Where you might find odd skeins of discontinued colors is an entirely different matter and up to serendipity depending on how long the color's been gone. Good luck finding them.
