I recently went to do laundry at a cleanrite laundromat. I put my sheets to dry and after 20 minutes, took my sheets out and they were burnt to a crisp. This is in NY city. The board of consumer affairs says they do not take complaints about laundromat dryers and the laundromat says that they are not responsible for clothes being damaged by their machines. This is so wrong. My question is how can I get the laws changed so that this does not happen to others. I was not reinburst for this. Why is this allowed to happen and there are not laws to protect people from stuff like this. If your equiptment is responsible for damadging someone else property, I think you should be held responsible. Especially if you run a business.

Checking on my sheets is ok, but not if I have to go every 5-10 minutes and I know that it takes 20 or 30 minutes to dry. I have no plan to go to court with thi, but I would really like to know how to make this a lega proceeder for future clients.

Maybe so, but we each have a responsibility of our own. For example, it could be argued that you had the responsibility to check on your sheets every few minutes to make sure they were OK. If you took this to court, the attorney for the laundromat would likely make this point. So, be prepared for this if you take legal action.
