I played It's all been done by Barenaked Ladies.
If you want some sad song but not too much of it, I recommend :

Love,Love, Love - by KT Tunstall
Run - Collective Soul
Hand In My Pocket - Alanis Morrisette
Sitting, Waiting, Wishing - Jack Johnson

All and all, I suggest for 80's or early 90's because they've got funny lyrics and tune. For example, Total Eclipse of My Heart.

My Yahoo! Music Station. I give it credit. If you listen to it long enough, and keep up with Rating the Songs and Artists, after a while, the Computer is really good at playing mostly songs that you like.
