However, I think that the whole situation has been blown way out of proportion and I am disappointed that Imus has received so much media exposure. Until this past week, I didn't even know that Imus was still around. This whole incident seems to somehow be validating the undeserved perception of Don Imus as a significant radio personality, which I think is a shame. If the radio station chooses to fire him, it should be soley because they feel that he has violated the terms of his contract by harming the station's image, and thereby reducing their ability to bring in advertisers, which the radio station has the legal right to do.
