He was obviously wrong for saying something so stupid and hateful. However, I think that the whole situation has been blown way out of proportion and I am disappointed that Imus has received so much media exposure. Until this past week, I didn't even know that Imus was still around. This whole incident seems to somehow be validating the undeserved perception of Don Imus as a significant radio personality, which I think is a shame. If the radio station chooses to fire him, it should be soley because they feel that he has violated the terms of his contract by harming the station's image, and thereby reducing their ability to bring in advertisers, which the radio station has the legal right to do.

Imus has made inappropriate comments before. This one was caught on film and broadcast everywhere and is stoking the fires of discontent. His apology seemed sincere, the suspension sturdy enough for the offense. I don't believe Imus should be fired, but since major advertisers are bailing that will probably be the end result. Imus will land on his feet and will hopefully refrain from stepping over the line in the future.

Let eminem say the same thing over the radio and lets see who complains then? The only reason this is getting any attention is because this old fart is seen as a left over piece of garbage from the racist 1960's and people can take a pot shot of left over frustration that was never dealt with back then.Had this been a young radio DJ white or black who made the same comment I don't think anyone would care.

This has been made much larger than it should have. Then again this guy had it coming. You just can't keep insulting people and never expect to get a taste of your own medicine.Bad karma always follows and it finally caught up to him.

On a positive note it is good to see how intolerant society has become to racisim.I remember when I was in public schools it was a free for all for saying anything you wanted no matter how hurt full it was to someone as people didn't think that was anything to worry about. If people are so offended as something as little as calling a girl a ho then we have come a long way as far as defeating racism. We have made alot of progress! Is racism dead?

No.

If you've ever seen Rob Bartlett's characters of Bill Clinton, Hulk Hogan, Dr. Phil, Brian Wilson, etc. or Producer Bernard McGuirk's Ray Nagin or Cardinal O’Connor, you know that Imus' humor is offensive to some, but just silly and sophomoric to most. It's 15 year old locker room towel snapping stuff. This latest episode is nothing new and way over-blown. A dumb thing and hurtful thing to say, but that's his stock in trade.

This is a business decision which should be based on the language of business: money. If Don Imus brings more sponsors in from his inability to control his language, then he should stay. If Don Imus drives away sponsors from his talk, then he should be fired.

It's not about what the average consumer American thinks. It's about the company's need to continue making a profit.

i've got self assurance that's a blow to sense speech and is hipocritical. Rosie nonetheless keeps her interest, after bashing Bush, Asians, united statesa., Christians, etc. Imus screwed up, specific. yet provide the guy of undertaking to redeem himself. He apologized and his comments have been distasteful and incorrect, yet they weren't that undesirable. i'm upset in how human beings reacted and gave in to the strain. This double widespread is fantastically obvious now. Its a disgrace relatively. i'm specific that scum Sharpton is proud and happy. How he nonetheless gets a voice blows my concepts after his bull. Imus made a mistake. He apologized or perhaps asked to speak approximately it to those he directed the comments to. the place is Sharpton's apologies in direction of the Duke gamers? There lives have been fantastically screwed up and nonetheless are. The Rutgers team have been given talked approximately as a acceptance. settle for the apology or not, yet the two way your existence replaced into not severly harmed in any way. not purely like the Duke gamers. They confronted existence in penal complex for some thing they didnt do. think of what they went with the aid of. And its not the 1st time Sharpton has accomplished this the two. the place is the outcry from the media and others while the tables are became? the place is the outcry from the media while Hillary Clinton has a fund raiser at a rap music executives homestead? humorous, cuz presently Hillary reported she has in no way and might in no way pass on the Imus tutor because of the fact he's a biggot. Then what's she? That rap executives artists have fantastically derogatory lyrics. Lyrics in direction of females, the N-be conscious consistently, between many different issues. SO the place is the outcry against that? No the place. not in this media that chooses to area with the likes of Sharpton and different a techniques left morons. i'm not protecting Imus's phrases yet did that incredibly require his firing? No. noticeably while regular you pay attention and notice worse issues, yet no ones says not something. for example, bear in mind that woman surfer who have been given her arm bit off by using a shark. nicely a particularly widespread radio host who occurred to be black performed a music with lyrics like " chew whitey chew whitey". of direction maximum of you in no way heard approximately that via this double widespread bull we are dwelling with right this moment. nicely positioned PEACEFROGG!!!

No, while I completely disagree with what he said, I never think the first and most important amendment to our constitution should ever be comprimised. That and taxation were the two biggest reasons we succeeded from the U.K. What is it saying when we fire people for speech. He apologized but at the same time, he is a shock jock, what do you expect. Also, the KKK were never censured, most people became educated about them and realized they were a bunch of morons and they lost their own power. Don't you think the same should happen to Imus? Censoring him will ulitmatly make him more powerfull. The same people calling for his resignation were the same people pissed when people tried to ban N.W.A and other rappers in the early 90's. That controversy ended up emboldening rap and making it more powerfull, do you want the same to happen to Imus? I think America is smart enough to know who is idiots and who aren't without having to have Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton tell us. Two "reverands" who preach the word of Jesus but seemed to have missed the part he said about forgivness.

Well the most important part of your question lies within the makeup of radio. If the people who pay for the show(advertisments) Do not want to pay for him then he will go whether we want him to or not. He has a long history of controversy ( He was the original shock jock before stern in New York) And even though he seems to have becomoe very right wing, he is prone to blunders as we all are. I do not listen to him so I cannot say he sux or does not. Are we going to fire someone for sticking their foot in their mouth, if so why is Gore still being considered for President?

☼ No, but he should be held accountable for is hateful remarks for more than 2 weeks. He may be helping out the community and those in need and according to him, be a nice guy, but he needs to watch what he says... after all from the heart one speaks... those thoughts had to come from somewhere.

I don't normally watch his show, but have seen it a couple of times and he can be very vocal and cutting about some things and people, but he did cross the line and it was wrong. He made a stupid mistake and there for he should be penalized and then we can move ahead and hopefully he will be careful in the future.

People in the media need watch what they say... freedom of speech shouldn't be a free for all. Look at all the other incidents of abusive open speech... Shouldn't we be building people up instead of tearing them down. What kind of example are we setting for our children. Do we expect better behavior from our children than we do adults?
