Everyone has an opinion. There are a million books out there telling you their meaning. But when you pick them all up, hopefully in time, you will realize that the meaning of life must come from you and your own realization, all from within. The thing that tells you all about all the so called gurus and sheds light on their ideas, is the very thing that will reveal in you the meaning of your life. It's ok to listen to others, but ultimately you should not hang on anyone, because the real teaching will lead you back to yourself.

The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams contains the answer.
It's 42.
Unfortunately, it then goes on to explain that the question is too vague for the answer to make any sense, so if you really want to know what the answer means, yuo have to first work out what the question is really all about.

Hiya! =)
Well, first, let me tell you what I think the meaning of life is, lol. I think the meaning of life is to enjoy your life, and be happy that God has put you here on Earth to live as proper human beings. I also think the meaning of life is to live your life to the fullest, and try to achieve what you want to achieve. Overall, I believe that God has put us here on Earth for eternity. I guess you can tell that I'm Christian, lol =P
Anyways, I answered a question from another person, a boy this time, and he asked this question as well. Click on this link to see what other people have written to this boy's question, which is like your one. Hope I helped! =D

Watch the film "Monty Python's Meaning Of Life" and pay close attention to the 'board room' scene. That's as good an explanation as you're likely to find.

The meaning of life? Work it out for yourself. :) Actualy no, dont try and work it out, just live it. Unless of course its for a psychology project - gawd how depressing! lol. The meaning of life in my opinion is not to even try and find out what the meaning of life is. If that makes even the remotest bit of sense. Hehe. Good luck

Because of all the times that versions of your question get posted I've actually written a book about it myself.
Just in the process of trying to get it published.
Wish me luck.

I agree with Morgan that meditation is the best way but you can also read Yogananda´s "Autobiography" or some Osho´s books.
