I will be studing ayurveda for 5 1/2 years in india...I want to know if there are any banks that offer accounts to foreign students? How do I go about opening one?

There is absolutely no reason to spend 5 1/2 yrs on Ayurveda. 2 yrs. is enough if you really care to learn it. Homeopathy is where you want to spend most of your time. It is far superior to Ayurveda even though Ayurveda and Buddha has it place.
What kind of visa are you entering India with? There will be no problem opening a bank account as long as you have a permanent address. I am an American living in India off and on for 33 years.
Come see me in Tiruvannamalai if you really want to learn about Healing. You must have knowledge of yoga before Ayurveda or Homeopathy can be used properly. What country are you from? Email me.

You can defenitely open account with any of the Banks like State Bank of India, State Bank of Travancore, ICICI Bank, HSBC Bank, HDFC Bank etc. Please contact these Bank for more details.

I assume you might be in kerala. i think you can approach locals banks like SBT, SBI, ICICI, HSBC etc. You will have to approach through your institution., citing reasons. You can also ask your embassy for more info on this. I do not kno frm which country you come from.

ANY GOOD BANK WILL OPEN UR ACCOUNT ,,HOPE U WANT TO OPEN SAVING ACCOUNTS..ALL U NEED IS UR PRESENT ADDRESS PROF WHICH CAN BE GOT EITHER FROM UR COLLEGE OR WHERE U STAY...NEED TO SUBMIT UR PERMANT ADD ALONG WITH COPY OF UR PASSPORT, VISA AND PHOTO..I SUGGEST U CONTACT ICICI, HSBC, CITI BANK BRANCH NEAR TO UR PLACE AND THEY WILL HELP U
