No it is not. You can talk about it, but as long as you are not insulting them in any way.. or degrading them.

Now it's rude if you are making fun of people who are obese but it is ok if you are talking about the health factors of being obese

That would depend on the tone of the conversation. Having been one I feel free to chime right in. I was over 350 pounds. I figured it out and fixed it. Oh, don't get me started....the currently obese don't always like what I have to say.

definitely rude. they are strangers so you don't know why they are obese. there are many medical conditions that cause obesity and medications that do too. I have a friend that has to take anti psychotic meds that make her gain weight. she has a choice of being sane or skinny. guess which one she chose? remember that saying..until you walk a mile in their moccasins

Of course it depends on context ie " so fat you're on BOTH sides of the family, " so fat.. High School photo was an aerial shot", "sunbathing on beach and Greenpeace towed you into the ocean","have to iron your clothes on the driveway", "looks at a menu and says 'okay!' "within their earshot, it's rude. But anything else.... It's not like Race or Anorexia- those cannot be helped. But obesity is SO easy to remedy. Eat less, exercise more.Stop eating, start jogging. It's not like a mystery why it happens. If you keep pumping gas into your car and don't drive it, it will overflow. If they eat Whoppers and don't burn it off, it will overflow (their belt, collar, etc). Simple. And I hate this "BBW" thing. It's like they are trying to make it okay .Ain't nothin "beautiful" about kankles, backt!ts and flapping triceps.

Yes, it is rude. Obese people are well aware of their size...someone said maybe they don't know they're obese...i'm sure they do! How do you know that the person overhearing your conversation doesn't have a medical problem...or maybe they've recently lost some weight and your rude comments hurt them, causing them to revert back to their old habits.

If by talking about it you mean a true discussion, then no it is not rude. If however you are making fun of a person because of a personal trait (obesity, handicap, low IQ...) then yes it would be rude to do so.

Well in my opinion I it is because some obese people my feel bad and you might provoke them to hit you. Well that's what I say even though I'm not obese at all.

Yes, it is rude. They know they are obese and its offensive. There should be respect. Always consider others feelings first. Put yourself in there shoes.

Would it be rude to talk about anorexia in front of strangers with anorexia? I would say it probably is, if it's blatant and obvious. If you just so happen to be talking about it, and one walks up then I don't think you should CHANGE the subject either.

Yes they might get offended. Some people are uncofortable about their weight. But on the other side they might not think they're obese.
