Last summer a friend of mine taking part in the Chalk 4 Peace event was told that if anyone chalked anything abusive on the pavement in Nottingham that day she would be held responsible and arrested.
Here in Bahrain where I live the police watched benignly as our kids messed up the pavements and the walls outside our school with their messages.
I know where I would rather live these days!

This is disgraceful. Children learn a lot from hopscotch or piever as it is called in Scotland. Balance being one and coordination being another.
Today there are no walls to play ball against and children are not encouraged to use skipping ropes, We used to spend our time playing with these.
BRING BACK CHILDRENS GAMES TODAY !!!!
I expec the rhymes we once chanted would be called 'not politically correct' so the good old mulberry bush is out, inky pinky parlevouou, atishoooo atishooo all fall down, all gone.

WHAT? You are joking aren't you??? I havent heard that one! That really is taking the biscuit!!! Chalk washes off doesnt it? If kids were spraying hopscotch with spray paint then maybe so. But I really cant see what the problem is with chalk!!! No wonder our kids are turning in to animals, no more baa baa black sheep cos its racist, no more conkers, no more snow ball fights. Soon we will be told dont let them out to play, tie them up and lock them in their bedrooms - oh no sorry thats abuse isnt it?
Where will it all end?!?!?!

Never heard of it, but sounds retarded to me. My kids love chalk and since the rain washes it away, it shouldn't be a problem.

Completely ridiculous.
Why don't we just start wrapping children in cotton wool and let them stay in a room until their 18, that way they wont hurt themselves, make a mess or offend anyone.
