I have a 90 gallon tank that I used for salt water about a year ago. When I moved I spent a good 2 hours cleaning the tank out. My question is does anyone think the integrity of the tank has lost some of its holding strength sitting in my basement for the past year? the caulking in the seams does not feel dried out. Also I plan on storing this tank for at least another year. any recs on storing it longer?

It will not have been damaged by proper storage at all. Silicon will with stand repeated drying and re wetting with no ill effects at all. To avoid any problems, be sure to store the tank on a firm flat surface sitting as it normally would ( not on it's side) and avoid extremes in temperature. All of these things will prevent stresses on the seams. Stored in this way a tank can be ready for use again years and years later.

I am new to this and all my tanks are newer (few months) but I did see sealer when I have been in the fish departments. If you are going to store it for another year go ahead and be on the safe side and re do the sealer. Got to be just like caulking. I think you can do it. Nice winter project to do next year.

You shouldn't have any problems. I inherited 4 tanks that had been stored in a basement for almost ten years and they are all still in service with no problems.

I would suggest covering it with a sheet, or canvas though, I had to clean mine three times to get rid of all the dust that had accumulated in them.

Good luck

should be okay for another year in the basement, if worried about drying out the seams add about 1/2" of water in the bottom of the tank with a tsp. of bleach .

It *should* be fine, as long as you leak test it before you re-use it. It's not that difficult to re-seal if you need to later on.
