I am a 43 year old male and yesterday my 12 year old son beat the living **** out of me because I said he needed to do better in school. He cussed me out for about 15 minutes and said he would steal my car if I told anyone about what he did. I am lost, confused, and hopeless.... WHAT SHOULD I DO! Please respond quickly because I think he might come down to my basement, this is urgent!

You should never be scared to hit your child bak. I'm only 16 and I know if I hit my parents they would hit me bak 10 times harder. I'm not a parent but I can tell you if you let your child hit you you're showing him that he controls you. Don't think if you hit him your the bad guy you're not. You're just shoeing him a lesson.

As soon as he hits you, you should give him a time out. If he's 4 or younger a timeout consists of making him sit in a chair facing the wall for 1min for every yr of age + plus one (so if he's 3 he sits there for 4 min. 5yrs or older time out in his room for the same minutes (1 for every yr + 1 so if he's 5 that would be 6 min). He will get the point. Another thing you can do is any toy he throws pick it up immediatley and throw it in the garbage (you can get it out later when he's not looking) Tell him if he can't appreciate his toys, then he just won't have any. Trust me fix this now or he will end up like my brother (25 still lives at home, does not work or help around the house and is physically, mentally, & verbally abusive to my mother).

Dude, you are 43 years old. What the **** is wrong with you? Call the police and tell them what he did and said to you. Not only are you a coward, you are asking people who are most likely teenagers themselves. I'm 19, so I guess I fit into two categories: teenager and adult. This is just how I see things. Also, might I suggest you take some self-defense classes. This way, if he tries this again, you can protect yourself.

Never let a 12 year have the upper hand on you. If fear your life send your son to a boot camp or if he assaults you again call the police. The police will probably take him to a juvenile detainment center. I hope you will get help soon!

Go see a counselor, don't let him scare you. You're his dad, his boss. not the other way around.
Tell him that if he does that again, you'll take his *most prized possession* such as, game boy, game cube, cellphone, whatever it is.
Plus take the car keys so he can't take the car. Do what ever you can to make sure he does not win the battle. This child needs social help. Try a local Social Service, they're there to help!

Cheups. All i have to say is that u deserved it.

Your son does not give you any respect because to him you are not respectable.

If you were training him correctly in the first place none of this would have happened.

THAT IS WHY YOU DONT SPOIL CHILDREN, WHEN THEY THROW TANTRUMS YOU SHOULD NOT GIVE IN.

THIS IS A PLAIN EXAMPLE FOR ALL YOU PARENTS THAT CANT STAND THE NOISE SO THEY REWARD THEIR BRATS FOR THEIR S*H*I*T*T*Y BEHAVIOUR!!!

SEND HIS A*S*S TO BOOT CAMP

Call the police. Call them now. Do not wait for him to get bigger and stronger and meaner. Domestic violence needs police intervention in ALL situations and your son needs help now.
