OK, someone please try to explain this to me.

OK, Don Imus made a stupid comment, and some people (many of whom did not even hear the comment) found it offensive. So Al Sharpton throws his weight around, threatens a few boycotts, and next thing you know Don Imus is fired.

Yet, whenever I say that I am offended by a certain group, say NAMBLA (a group promoting homosexual pedophilia) , and I wish for them to be shut down, I get attacked for violating free speech. Even though many NAMBLA members have been arrested for sex crimes:

It is still “violating their free speech” to try and shut them down. Yet, Don Imus committed NO crime, and was fired.

Is racism a worse crime in our society than child molestation?

It's a sad day when NAMBLA is up and running yet they shut down a program for using offensive language.

NAMBLA exists for the same reason the KKK openly exists.
Both are creepy, but both exist.

There is no comparison to what Imus is dealing with... Imus did something idiotic (his usual, in other words) and was fired by a private company for being an albatross around their neck... Something they should have been able to predict before they hired him. Talk about a news story that was no news....

It must be, or else a group like NAMBLA would not be allowed to exist! Liberal groups can openly advocate crimes, but when a conservative one does the same thing, oh, that's just the end of the world as we know it! Bottom line: NAMBLA is free to promote the most henious crime short of murder, while far less-culpable groups are shut down, all in the sweet name of free speech! George Orwell's timing was a bit off, but we seem to have finally achieved his 1984 in 2007.

Okay I am going to try and be patient here and not throw out some obvious remarks I am thinking about your intellect. NAMBLA is pedophilia, it is child molestation. It is men and boys. Just because it is men and boys does not mean it's about homosexuality. Those men could/would NEVER be with another "man" because they want boys. It's about controlling a child. It's not about sexuality. You are straight I, does that mean you want little girls? Statistics prove that 95% or more of child molesters are STRAIGHT!
Now that I have stated that the answer to your question is YES child molestation IS worse than discrimination by far.

Ok, so now that the Duke Lacrosse players have been cleared and it is clear That the “Exotic Dancer” lied, will the good Reverend Jessie Jackson and Reverend Al Sharpton go into the streets of Durham tomorrow and protest? Will they DEMAND justice for these boys and hold the city hostage with threats of violence until that woman is brought up on serious charges? Will the Rev. Jessie “Hymie Town” Jackson and the Rev. Al “I got Jewed out of my numbers” Sharpton reveal that they are really just poverty pimps sucking the money out of their own people? Will they admit that they are just using the “race card” to line their own pockets and to keep the black community down for their own benefit?

And for you to young to remember those racial quotes and many, many more by these two “Reverends”, just know that they need to keep racial tension alive to keep their bank accounts full!

Racism is in no way, shape, or form more of a crime than child molestation. First off, racism isnt even a crime to begin with. In some ways, I am glad that racism is able to exist in America. If we didnt let it exist, then there would be no limit on what forms of speach and opinion we could restrict.

Racism is not a crime- we have freedom of speech and thought last time I checked.

I understand your point- but a legal action (being a racist) should not even be compared with an illegal one (Molestation)

Racists should just be ignored- paedophiles should be put "out to pasture" -if you get my drift.
