it would be worse because the metal cup would lose heat more easily so the result for the specific heat would be really inaccurate. but if it's insulated, then i guess it shouldn't really matter... anyway it has to be insulated with something like a felt jacket.

Just off the top of my head, the thermal mass of a metal cup could hinder your measurement. Worse if it is not insulated with something like,well,styrofoam.

Try drinking hot coffee out of a metal cup.

a metal calorimeter would be better but if its just an ordinary metal cup..it wouldn't make the results better--even worse
