In the periodic table, you have Group 2. Group 2 is made up of the elements: beryllium, magnesium, calcium, strontium, barium, and radium.

1st question: What is the number of electrons for a neutral atom of each element in this group?

2nd question: What is the number of outer electrons for a neutral atom of each element in this group?

2nd question first...
All group 2 elements have 2 electrons in the outermost orbit or shell!!!
This is what defines which group (1 to 7) an element is put into!! If it has 8 it is a "noble" gas and is put into group 8 (some systems call this group 0)
If you now the atomic number (or proton number) of the element (look at a periodic table) this is the number of protons the element has AND for the atom to be electrically NEUTRAL it is also the number of electrons!!!

The number of electrons in a neutral atom is equal to the number of protons, which is equal to the atomic number. For the Group II elements, the atomic numbers are: Be 4, Mg 12, Ca 20, Sr 38, Ba 56, and Ra 88.

The number of outer electrons in a neutral Group II atom is always 2.

for the 1st questions, this is basically means that the number of electrons in each element of group 2. as you go down the group the atomic radios increases e.g radium is largest atom of the element in group 2 .

for the 2 questions this is the number of out shell only,look at the electron configuration of each element and see the outer shell as they all got 2 which explains why they are in group 2

1i In Neutral state
Be Z=4 , 4 electrons,
Mg Z=12 12 electrons
Ca Z=20 , 20 electrons
Sr Z=36 , 36 elctrons
Ba Z=56 , 56 electrons
Ra Z=88 , 88 electrons

2) the MAIN characteristics of that group is to have TWO electrons on the OUTER shell
When thes loose them, they form easily double positive ions

I believe that a neutral charge atom is any atom in which the protons and electrons are equal. I dont believe the number of valence electrons matters as long as total electrons = total nutrons.
