A batsman in the sport of cricket is, is in true sense a player whose speciality in the game is batting.. Though a bowler also bats, he is not called a batsman, but he is called as a bowler. Similarly though allrounders and wicket keepers also bat, they are not called batsman, but as all rounders and wicket keeper.

In the game of cricket, players are given different position
there are bascially four positions.
1- batman ( in baseball they would call that the batter or hitter)
2. bowler ( in baseball they would call this the picther)
3. wicketkeeper this is a person who stands behind the wicket (the batman has to defend his wicket from being hit by the ball when the bowler pitches it to him) any ball that passes the wicket the wicketkeeper will collect it ( like the catcher behind the batter in a baseball game.
4. feilders- they are they to stop the batman from running after hitting the ball and in cricket feilders have different position to feild.
