Only right wing whackos that listen to too much Rush Limbaugh.....I have been a liberal my whole adult life and am not interested in socialism, just equality....Mr. Bush started the Medicare Part D program, a socialist program that will be bankrupt in ten years if left unchanged.

The current liberal movement in the U.S. has been hijacked by fanatical socialists. I use an example the legislation in Oregon that would force churches not to exclude gays in hiring.
Many churches prefer to hire within their own faith, but the proposed Oregon legislation exceeds the bounds of the U.S. constitution's intent of separation of church and state.
Also, in more than one case, liberal activist judges are abusing their authority by ruling in cases based on their feelings instead of the law. Most of these rulings have to be overruled by a higher court.
Most recently, the supreme court ruled on global warming when they had no jurisdiction. The constitution places issues as this in the legislative branch of government.
Many liberal judges are attempting to legislate from the bench and override the "will of the people."
I also use as an example the current fervor over illegal immigration. Liberals in the news media decided years ago to quit using the term "illegal alien" and replace it with "undocumented immigrant" because it sounded offensive. This is crazy !!! The term "undocumented immigrant" is an oxymoron. To be an immigrant, you must have documents, so "undocumented" really means "illegal" and "immigrant" really means "alien." (or someone not born in the U.S.) It is this type of Orwellian "newspeak" that leads many to believe that an organized effort in the news media is underway to socialize America.

Actually, I don't think it's just a liberal agenda, heck look at all the government interference in social programs & state programs now...smoking bans in privately owned establishements, what and how to cook things, blackmail from federal goverment to state goverment if they don't recognize a certain holiday they will withhold funds, slowly but surely state goverment functions are being eroded away by citizens demanding that the federal govenment to take over. As previously mentioned, socialzed health care, look it up...health care is suppose to be a State function not a federal one.

Liberals want the US government to run everything. Liberals want to run the government. Because there are many misguided liberals, it is not possible to say there is a "spirited conspiracy."
Liberals have the same interests and goals. I don't believe they are all working together.

Ha...a conspiracy?! A conspiracy is not carried out in the open...in plain sight. It is an organized agenda. Liberals are entitled push their agenda the same as Republicans are entitled to push theirs.

It's up to the voters to decide which direction the country will take...or so the theory goes.

Not saying it is intentional but that is the direction. Every time the Government takes over another program. Every time we speak of National health care (that's Socialized Medicine--it doesn't matter how you slice it). All bigger Government ever does is further control the masses and create more rules and regulations. That is not the spirit that built America.............

They take their own interpretation of what "liberals want" or "liberals believe" and apply it to be truth. If what they believe was actually true, sure, they'd have a point. But most of them are so closed-minded that they're unwilling to accept that we know what we believe more than they do, and that what we believe has a very loose relationship with what they think we believe.

No of course not. I am a capitalist, not a conservative although there are many overlaps as well as with liberals.

I do believe there is a systematic effort by socialists and socialists in congress to destroy this country. They have taken control of the democratic party, they call themselves liberals because they know americans will reject out and out socialists, but that is what they are, and should they gain enough control and americans refuse to bend, then it will become communism. Is that simple enough for you to understand.

Wanting the government to intervene in the market place with increases in taxes to pay for government run programs that are currently in the private sector is to be called something other than socialism? What is the correct term to use?

I'm republican, honestly I know many liberals whom I consider intelligent, educated insightful individuals. However, after listening to and considering their points and arguments I find many logic issues with their beliefs and they all sound very ideological but unrealistic. One told me once we should limit the offspring of married couples in an effort to control inflation, his argument-less mouths to feed less poverty. You be the judge of that comment.
