Too much fluid will cause it to foam, which can lead to crazy shifting and transmission damage. The fluid expands when and may leak past seals.

If you have too much, use a clear tube from an aquarium pump and siphon some out.

I good way to tell if you have too much or too little is the presence of bubbles or a foamy look to it.

Usually just make a mess and end up coming out of the dip stick tube.

it can cause your oil to foam and cause slippage and it could blow a seal or gasket.
