Yeah I didn't expect him to retire yet, he would be a valuable back up for any team and might even have had a chance to play more. But you have to figure, he probably helped Brady a little while he was there with the Pats, then Romo while with the Cowboys...he's more of a mentor now. He did retire with his health and not due to injury, so you can't really blame a guy after 14 years of play and 44,000 yards passing (even though he wasn't the most efficient passer by any means).

No, I'm not surprised that he retired. Ever since Tom Brady took over the starting position in New England, Bledsoe has been like a fifth wheel wherever he goes. He can't move much anymore and never really fit in with the Cowboys game plan. He had a excellent career. He finished in the top 10 in QB all time stats. It's time to go. At least he can walk away under his own power and that ain't such a bad thing.

Drew Bledsoe had one of the most underrated careers that any quarterback has had. He is in the top 15 all time in passing yards and TD's. He won a Super Bowl, although by that time, he was relegated to Tom Brady's clipboard holder. He went to Buffalo and played some of his best football, but yet ended up getting screwed. He held together the Cowboys until they shafted him in favor of Tony Homo. He had a great 14 years and I am glad that he's going out when he wants, although he probably could have went to a team like Oakland or Cleveland and been a stopgap to a young future QB again. Congratulations Drew Bledsoe, and I hope to see you in Canton in five years.

Not surprised at all, I think it was 13 years too late. I am not a Bledsoe fan, he was another Jake Plummer in my book. In some games he looked like a Hall of Fammer and then the next week he looked like Ryan Leaf. Adios Drew and close the door behind you when you leave

No. He was really beat up early on with the Patriots, and then the first few years with the Cowboys. If he only had an offensive line to protect him, he would be higher than 7th on the all time passing list. He never could move around much.

No I'm not surprised at all. In fact I feel that it was time for him to retire as he's not the same player that he used to be.

Not really, but with all the crappy starting QB's in the NFL, I'll be surprised if some team doesn't try to pull him out of retirement.

Not so much. He was replaced on two teams by young bucks that ended up leading their teams well. It has to burn a bit. He had a very good career, might as well go out with some dignity instead of ending up with the Raiders or Lions or Browns or....

Not at all. Who was going to take him? Nothing against the man but he is old, and a pocket passer. He isn't mobile and never really was. At best he would be a mentor for a QB now and I don't think he wanted to be.
