We are going on a cruise November 25 2007 But we are going to leave a day early because airfare is lower.
What is the closest hotel to Orlando International Airport
We need to return to airport the next day to get shuttle to ship.
Would like a Hotel with shuttle but not that important. Something with a good price. Is the area safe?

Yes there are a few hotels close to the airport there. There is actually a Hyatt located in the airport. Here is a link showing the location of several hotels close to the airport along with their contact information.

It's a good idea to stay about 15mins from the airport - otherwise you get the aircraft noise. There's plenty of hotels:

Ramada Inn and Suites is located 3 miles from the Orlando International Airport with transfers.

Travelodge Kissimmee Heritage Park is minutes away from Orlando International Airport and is situated adjacent to a golf course.

There's no problem with safety.

You can take a taxi. Just call the company before hand and ask how much it would cost. Find out the quickest way too. I live in Maryland, near DC. The taxi's up here cheat people especially if you don't know where you are. They go below the speed limit and take long ways to run the meter up. so a $5 trip could end up costing you $15. I don't recommend public transportation. Your best bet is to take the taxi.

There's actually a hotel attached to the airport -- the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport.

It's actually reasonably priced, and probably what you're looking for.
